My husband and I have just got back from Australia and have been about 4-5 times since April. Its one of our favorite places to go in Dundee. Its conveniently down the road from us. Fantastic range on the menu. Brilliant service and atmosphere. We have brought friends there last weekend and sat outside in the garden area in the nice weather watching the planes takeoff its. Would recommend to everyone.

Usually a great place to take the kids for a meal-not the day we went!-waited 35mins for the order to be taken-kids wanted 1 tuna 1 cheese sandwich-tuna-came on round dry bread-tuna was fine it had mayonnaise but the cheese had nothing to 'keep' it on the bread-result it all fell all over the place! not just us had problems the table next to us had to repeatedly ask for the kids icecream. one of the other dishes we ordered was the crisp things with melted cheese but half the cheese wasn't melted.

Been here a few times and as always never let down.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Great choice of food and wines.
We had haggis friters to start, lovely
Followed by chicken burger and my partner had balmoral chicken.
All in all great food, great price and fantastic team of staff.
Look forward to our next visit

I've been here many times now - twice on dates and several more times with family when they come up to Dundee to visit. I have yet to be let down on any occasion.

The atmosphere is fairly good, a spacious place with a variety of seating options - it almost feels like a different venue depending on the area in which you sit. My favourite is the rounded "turret" alcove on the left, with a high roof and covered in paintings. My only complaint would be the television sets in each of the booth seats - they can of course be switched off, but they are still rather unsightly things to have next to your table on a date.

The food is largely standard pub fare, but with enough variety and the occasional surprise to keep things interesting - their vegetarian options are particularly inventive. Having said that, I can personally recommend the Balmoral chicken, the fish pie, and most of all the gourmet beefburger with salsa, jalapeno and crushed tortilla topping. My experience with staff has been very good - they are attentive and very friendly, though I was concerned one night about the charmingly frazzled waitress who was literally leaping up and down the steps to and from our table!

All in all, this is a really good place, and it's even within walking distance of Dundee city centre, if you've the time and fitness to go for 45 minutes each way. Just make sure you book on evenings and weekends for larger parties to avoid disappointment.

First the positives, the staff were very freindly and helpful from start to finnish. Now the food, there were 5 in our group and 2 had very good main courses 1 had an ok main course and 2 had an absolute disaster main course. The breast of chicken was bone dry and the ribs had no flavour whatsoever. The desserts were very nice and well presented. The gents toilets were clean but according to my partner the ladies toilets were absolutely stinking the smell was almost unbearable.
