First impressions not very good, looked rather run down.
Young girl on reception was very polite and booking in was quick and simple.
Then it started to go downhill, the lift doors looked like they had been kicked in and had been patched with gaffer tape.
On arrival at the room it got worse, the room was not very clean, the windows were filthy, fortunately the bed was clean or we would have walked out, The toilet did not flush properly. the worktop round the sink was red painted wood and had grime in every corner.
This hotel is not fit for purpose and should closed until it has been totally refurbished.
The current TV adverts give the impression that hotels have been refurbished when this one certainly has not.
Some people are saying it is good and has been improved, if so it must have really terrible before or they have very low expectations.

Room Tip: DO NOT go to this hotel it is a dump and should be closed.

An excellent long weekend , very conveniently located for Dundee centre. Very comfortable bed, clean room, quiet location and friendly staff. What more could you want for a very reasonable price. Travelodge Strathmore Avenue has definitely improved during the last year.

Stayed again for 3rd time
Recent much hyped updating is just a redecorating.
Room clean and tidy
Plenty of tea etc from recption
Staff very helpfull
Book early for price.
If price more than bottom price have a good search. Lots of indipendents in the Broughty Ferry area.
Bar expensive with no draught beer or real ale.( Loses a star for that)
Cafe still like a canteen but breakfast now unlimited. Or try local supermarket Cafe's
In all a good basic place to spend the night.
Staff warned about lift being out for maintance plus on web site with a man to help with bags avalible.
Also said may be some noise as was a Friday but apart from someone going into room at 11 was quite.

Room Tip: Signs still say to Days Inn

Stayed here for three nights as a couple. Excellent hotel and facilities, but the food let it down!. Very clean and well kept.Pleasant staff. Only a short drive from the centre of Dundee and a walk of about 25 minutes.

The first problem if you don't have a sat nav is finding this hotel. Acquired from Days Inn four years ago we were told, there are still no brown tourist signs guiding you to it. The old Days Inn signs are still there! They are needed because of its central location. The hotel is comfy enough and we had no problems with the room, apart for a window handle falling off. There is some traffic noise on the front, but it quietens down in the evening. However, this is clearly a popular hotel with tradespeople rather than couples. Don't ask for a map of Dundee so that you can find your way around. They don't have any.

Easier in bullets.

. Reception staff slow an unhelpful
. Lift seems to have been ooo for sometime
. Noise from guests is a pain, especially from the stairs
. Grotty microwave food. I know it is cheap but it was awful.
