“A very comfortable stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2013

The room was very comfortable and attractively decorated. Staff were all attentive and friendly. The breakfast was cooked to order and was plentiful. The swimming pool is pleasant and warm.
The hotel is squeezed between a main road, a side road and the railway but has done much to make the best of a restricted plot although parking on site can be a challenge when the hotel is busy. We stayed for three nights and overall value was very good and we would make a return visit.

Dear Ann C,
Many thanks taking the time to put fingers to keyboard, your comments are very much appreciated, we are also delighted you used the leisure facilities, as, sad to say, you are two of the very few to take advantage of our pool etc. All in all, it would appear that you both had a very enjoyable stay, please tell as many of your friends, associates, strangers and any human beings, about our hotel in Broughty Ferry ! My colleagues and I, hope to see you both soon.
P.S. Hope the weather in Inverness has been good to you.
Kind regards,
Jeff Stewart

We were traveling around Scotland , from Australia . Most of our holiday was pre booked , but we decided to drive and stay at places that took our fancy , unknown to us it's harder to find accommadation than we realise on the eastcoast around this time of year. One afternoon after trying many places we were lucky enough to get a booking at Broughty Ferry as they had a cancelation , and that was to our very good luck , It was the most lovely motel, staff were wonderful and helpful , the rooms were clean and large and breakfast was great , we only intended to stay in the area 1night but as they had another 2 nights free at the motel we stayed 3, the shops and restaurants nearby were good and it was a short drive or bus ride to Dundee , we went to Dundee to see some of the attractions in there as well , all I could say is I would highly recommend the Broughty Ferry motel and the area in general , check out the local castle which is free or take a walk along the river all beautiful

My parents stayed at this hotel after a trip around Scotland, and it was the nices hotel they stayed in. The rooms are nice, clean, and best of all--quiet. There are not many options in Broughty Ferry, so you need to book this hotel far in advance.

Dear NYC Traveler,
Forgive me for commenting, your name sounds a bit like an American detective series on the telly
We are all delighted that your parents, whilst touring Scotland, chose to nominate The Hotel Broughty Ferry as the finest hotel they had been to. Your parents flattering comments really make our day, they make the job so worthwhile. I feel a certain bonding coming on with your Mum & Dad for I also think this is the best hotel in Scotland !! Please pass on our regards to Mum & Dad, we would be honoured and delighted to welcome them both back here at The Hotel Broughty Ferry.
Kind regards,
Jeff

We stayed here as attending a family event in Broughty Ferry. I was a bit disappointed with the room due to the creaking floorboards in the room and noisy generator outside. But it was only for one night so not a huge problem. It was however very clean and lovely to get robes and slippers. On arrival after 6pm we had to walk past people eating evening meal in the restaurant and lounge as the entrance was not clearly signposted. The staff were very welcoming and breakfast was great. We did not use the leisure facilities however had a wander along and it was very nice.

Dear Anna68,
Many thanks for your predominantly positive review. I note your comments regarding creaky floor, believe it or not, the majority of our customers don't really mind, they realise that the building is 19th Century, surely at that age, one can forgive a little creak now and again, not only that, it sometimes adds a bit of intrigue & curiosity as to what is causing the creaking joists in the room next door !
We invented a new game for our staff ( cash prize for the winner ) called, " Hunt the generator. " Needless to say, no one won the prize, reason, no generator exists. There are extractor fans in our kitchens, however they are all switched off by 10:15pm.
On arrival, It's a pity you came in the wrong door, however the majority of our clients drive into our car park, and of course they then enter the hotel entrance and straight up to reception.
On a brighter note, the overall picture you painted is rather good, many thanks for your lovely comments, we hope to see you again in the not too distant future.
Kind regards,
Jeff

Not much from the outside but different on the inside. Cosy and warm with great rooms. Plenty of space, sofa lounge and furniture with some character. Bed was good and our bathroom was spacious. Dining options available on site, proper restaurant or bar lounge meals. All in all we were very pleased with our choice.

What a great little gem of a hotel with big facilities! Swiming pool, gym, sauna and superb food! The staff were first class, always happy to help, smiles on their faces and always a cheery hello. So many plus points for this hotel I would be here all day listing them. If your simply out and about in Broughty Ferry I would highly recommend dropping in here for the food alone, its outstanding!

If I had to say there was one downside or bad point to this hotel it would simply be that I think 10am is a little early on a Sunday to stop breakfast, 10.30am even 11am would be better but I think thats due to the fact that they serve lunches so they may have to stop breakfast a little earlier. Other than that, this is a fantastic higly recommended hotel.

Dear Mandyfyfe,
Many thanks for your very positive review, it's such a pleasure dealing with appreciative customers. We all agree that 10am on a Saturday & Sunday is a bit early to end breakfast service, however as you quite rightly pointed out, we have to clear and re-set for lunches which start at 11:45. Once again Mandy, many thanks for your comments, we all look forward to meeting you again in the not too distant future.
Kind regards,
Jeff Stewart.

There was a slight mix up on arrival as we had booked two double rooms, single occupancy, however was given a single and a twin room. When this was brought to the attention of the reception staff this minor error was rectified immediately. Our stay was over 3 consecutive nights in early April 2013.
The bedroom was of a good size and included everything to make the stay most enjoyable. Tea/coffee making facilities, sweets, biscuits, bottled water and dressing gowns to name only a few, not to mention how comfortable the bed was.
We had dinner in the hotel on the first two evenings. There was an excellent varied menu in both the restaurant and the bar.
The hotel also had a sauna and pool with lockers and changing facilities, which was very enjoyable when used as very quiet, not the normal busy hotel/member chain which you would maybe find in other hotels.
During our stay the hotel staff were very friendly, in particular an older couple, presumed to be the owners, whom would always stop for a chat when possible.
Thankyou again for a wonderful stay, will be back next time we are in Dundee.
