I didn't notice that this hotel is in fact a student accommodation before I booked : my bad, but I think it worth being remembered here.

We finally didn't sleep here, because the room was not really clean (dust, hairs on the chair, ...).

The woman at the reception did his best to help us, suggesting to change for a "newer" and bigger room, but we decided to find another place anyway. She remained pleasant and helpful, printing for example the highland games program as I said we would go there.

To conclude, don't expect a real hotel, and you won't be disappointed I guess.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Trip Advisor. We are very careful to ensure we advertise our Campus accommodation correctly. Although it was not what you were looking for I am glad we are able to assist you in finding alternative accommodation.

Kind regards

Booked about a week in advance, I traveled down to Dundee with my girlfriend and our two friends, for a birthday night out. The outside of the hotel looked extremely pleasant, and gave me great hopes for the rooms we had booked. Whilst checking in, one of the women at the reception desk looked at my girlfriend and I very disapprovingly (We are a lesbian couple), but I tried to brush it aside. We were shown on a map quickly how to find our rooms, which didn't go accordingly to plan, as 20 minutes later, we ended up back at reception, and had to get a man from the reception desk to show us where they were. When we entered our room, it was incredibly stuffy, as the curtains and window were both closed. We had plans to go out for dinner, and after driving for 2 hours in incredibly hot weather, showers were desperately needed. But we found that we didn't have a shower, but a wet room, with a "showerhead" resembling a garden hose. It looked like something you would hose off animals in. The bathroom door also didn't lock, which seems like a basic necessity. After all this palava, I was quite happy to get out for the night.

We returned roughly 6-7 hours later(at roughly 2am) and said goodnight to our friends, who were sleeping in the room next door. As my girlfriend and I got ready for bed. we could hear that our friends were certainly not sleeping, and that we could hear EVERYTHING that was going on. Eventually they stopped their antics, and we attempted to sleep. An hour later, we had both not fallen asleep, and agreed that the mattress was incredibly awkward, and that it was lumpy and springs everywhere. We ended up sleeping ontop of the quilt, for that little bit of extra comfort.

Waking up about 4 hours later(with a hangover I might add), the 10am check out time seems very unreasonable, far too early, and we were rushing about trying to make sure we would be out in time. At about 9:55, we checked out, the people at the reception seemed fairly glad for us to check out, and did not ask how our stay was.

Overall, although the price was pretty good, the rooms lacked basic items, the walls were paper thin, the beds were beyond uncomfortable and the staff seemed judgemental and unenthusiastic.

Room Tip: Make sure your room has an actual shower, rather than a wet room. And if you go with another couple, try to be a couple of rooms away from them, or it makes for very awkward breakfast conversation knowing what they got up to the night before!

Booked this at very short notice when I had to travel at the last minute. It is student accommodation and it is a bit basic. The room was nice though and clean. The ensuite wet room was more than adequate for my purposes. A small flat screen tv also served it's purpose.
My own complaints was that the room was quite noisy. The doors slam with quite a bang and I could hear the conversations of the residents on either side of me.
Not a bad experience at all and I would stay here again
Very reasonably price.

Room Tip: Just bear in mind that is not a regular hotel.

We recently visited this Hotel on Sat 27th of July 2013,
Overall the Hotel was clean and tidy, but it was let down on a few points, The Double mattress on our bed had clearly seen better days as i had to sleep all night with a spring in my back, and that now brings us onto the main part of our adventure.

The other guests, we were in room 101 (which wasn't a good omen) as the couple above us were trying out for the Sex olympics, whilst i'm no prude it sounded like they were trying out for a porn movie, then we had some lunitics trying to get into our room 3 times during the night, it was the same for our friends who were in the room next to us.

When we told Reception in the morning about how our stay went, all she could say was that a gang from Aberdeen were staying at the time we were there, then she informed us it couldn't be them as they stayed else where, I then informed her that I was going to put a comment on here she nearly died, I at least thought they would have some kind of Security in a place that size but apparently not.

As we visit friends in Dundee at least once a year alas we will not be repeating our visit to this establishment.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor. I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay at West Park Campus accommodation. I have taken on board your comments regarding the mattress and will address this. I apologise that your night was interrupted, we do have security and a night porter who would have dealt with the situation had they been informed at the time. Thank you again for taking the time to place a review, your feedback is very important for us.

Kind regards

This is a good base for visiting Dundee, the price of accomodation is reasonable however the bar prices are slightly high. Also be prepared for student type accomodation which is fine if you intend to be mostly out and about. There is loads of free car parking . The rooms are clean and well maintained. The restuaurant meals are also good. The service is great and informal.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same standard
