Stayed here while visiting family. Could not ask for a MORE CONVENIENT location than here. Includes Breakfast buffet. We checked out at 4:00AM and front desk offered to have items on buffett so we could eat prior to leaving!! Front desk very knowledgable about offering suggestions and providing driving instructions!! Only slight downside, there is no parking lot on premise. Hotel does give discount on parking at lot 2 blocks down street (make sure to validate token at front desk PRIOR to going to garage).

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. Our Guest Service Team works tirelessly to ensure we provide a fantastic service – I am pleased you found this. Our free breakfast offers a fantastic selection and were ever possible we will always try to offer this to guests who need to depart before breakfast opens. We are very fortunate to have such a fantastic city centre location, however the downside to this is we do not have our own car park. We can offer a discounted rate from the prices of a nearby NCP and our staff are always on hand to advise this and other parking options in the city centre.

We only had one night in Edinburgh, but I'd be very happy to stay longer at this hotel.
It's a few metres from the Royal Mile and very handy for the Old Town (so no real need to take buses or taxis).
Although it's central, it's on a quiet street and the rooms at the back look onto a big neighbouring garden that makes them even quieter.
It's modern, bright, very clean (much like other HI Expresses in décor and furnishings.)
The staff were very helpful and polite.
The beds are comfy, the shower is hot ...
There's free wifi , free newspaper and a free breakfast. ...
I'm very glad we chose to stay there.

Room Tip: I'd ask for a room at the back.

We didn't expect a large room so the tiny rooms did not upset us. We didn't spend much time in the room so the crappy tube tv with fuzzy reception wasn't too much of a complaint but the beds were something you would find in a $5 a night truck stop. We "woke up" every morning in a foul mood after trying (and failing) to sleep on a matress where every spring could be felt violently assaulting our bodies. Requesting better beds only showed us that every room had poor quality matresses. Stale sausages and stiff eggs are served for breakfast. Not fit for a dog! I will give the help high marks as they weee friendly and did their best with what they had to work with. But the price we paid for these accommodations was outrageous! They even accused us of smoking in the room! I would sooner stay at a hostel in bunk beds than book another room here.

Lobby great, welcome very friendly, place was clean. The room was very small, very little decoration, small bed, inexpensive furnishings. The breakfast was good, plenty to eat. Great location to Royal Mile. Staff was very helpful.

This hotel is right next to a small church and quiet both day and night even it is close to the busy Royal Mile. Walking distance to the train station (0.3 miles) and Edinburgh Castle (0.8 miles). It is a good base for sightseeing. Although our one double bed with sofa bed room is not as spacious as the Holiday Inn in USA, it is well design to fit our family of four. I don't know when this hotel was built, it looks very new and clean.
