Travelodge Edinburgh Haymarket Hotel

Perfectly placed for exploring a great city. If you arrive at the airport the new trams take you directly to Haymarket and it's only a few minutes walk to the hotel. The hotel is basic, but clean and comfortable. If you want to see the sights and then use the hotel to rest and start again the next day, I would recommend. If you want to sit around this hotel, then go elsewhere. This is a budget hotel with reasonable rates for what it offers, room, good beds, shower/toilet and a hearty breakfast!

Bit of a mixed review this because some of the staff were lovely but most couldnt speak english. Rooms were large but we had a view of a door and a generator! ok so i didnt stay in the hotel for the view but it would of been nice to see something! Breakfast average but quite a nice selection. Bar was expensive with no draught beers just tins and bottles. food ok but microwaved stuff really. I wouldnt stay again but it was fine for the weekend

Stayed here before and visit had been more pleasurable - however on this stay we were given a room directly beneath the reception and hotel entrance, when we arrived we had quickly popped into the room just to change and then were back out the door to go to the performance that brought us through to Edinburgh in the first place.

However when we got back around 1am we settled into our room to sleep and our window that was a stoney stairwell one level down directly on the street was not double glazed and we could hear everything going on in the street as well as hearing the people coming and going from the reception area! The reception area itself wasn't well floored and could hear every footstep which sounded like a herd of elephants. The window had a continuous drip/click sound which my partner tried at various times in throughout the morning to see if he could sort it as was keeping us awake. The morning around 8 on wards was particularly noisy presumably because people we coming and going for breakfast and for checking out!! We were absoutely exhausted by the time we left the hotel! Went home and spend the better part of our Sunday having to catch up on the sleep we should have been able to get during our stay! A comfortable nights sleep - pfft! Was so disappointed, have contacted their customer services with my complaint however waiting to hear back!

Location was ideal, just the room let the place down, very disappointed!

We stayed there for nine days in July. The hotel is nice and well located about fitteen minutes walking to the city centre, and there are plenty of buses to the most important places. But the best thing in the hotel was the staff, all of them are allways willing to help, they were very kind and friendly. And something very usefull for us some of them spoke spanish !!

I stayed in this travelodge about 18mths ago and it was great so recommended it as a good place for the family to all meet up and stay as it is close to tram and city. It says on the website that it has been refurbished but I don't see any evidence of it. Our room was on ground floor and huge( great with the kids) however we later discovered that we were sharing the corridor with the kitchen and service areas and next door to the bar cafe so it was very noisy in the evenings. No cleaning of the room during the 3 night stay, out all day from 8am ish but only time they tried to clean room was when we were getting ready to go back out early evening, so they were told no and we just got clean towels.
Food has gone down hill as well, last time it was as I expected having eaten in a few travelodge bar cafe's but very poor this time.

We had a great double room (room 220) with lovely views over the rear gardens. Spotless and larger than average. Plenty of room to hang clothes and store luggage. Staff were very helpful and friendly. 5 minute walk to the nearest bars, restaurants and Haymarket train station. Very reasonably priced. Parking is a nightmare in this area so I would seriously consider this before you book. This isn't the hotels fault though and you will have the same problem where ever you book. Would definately stay here again.

Myself and my girlfriend went for a couple of nights. The staff were very helpful, professional and always up at daft times through the night! :) There was a great selection for breakfast, room was clean and tidied each day we stayed, but be warned, travel light, as there was only 1 drawer in the room available. The others are screwed shut with no handles! (After checking with staff, apparently this is standard). It's ideal if you're just passing by, but due to the storage, it's not great if you have to stay for a while.

Room Tip: Try and ask for a room with a window out to the front, as that's where you'll get the sun th...
