“A Handy Place Near the City of Edinburgh”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

My husband & I had been touring the UK by car since the beginning of June. We had stayed in many different bed and breakfast places along the way. We found Browns to be one of the most spotlessly clean, even a tray for your shoes! The room was exquisitely decorated & had the usual supplies of tea/coffee facilities & bathroom accessories.
One word of warning though, there is no free parking around. On arrival, Marion & her husband suggested for us to park across the road in a pay & display space. Fortunately it was late in the afternoon & there was a car park available. Because we were taking the car back to Avis the next morning we only needed to put enough money in to the metre to cover the night. But if one needed the space for more time this would get costly.
We found Marion & her husband more than accommodating. It was no trouble for Marion to arrange an early morning breakfast & taxi for us on day 2 as we had to leave early to catch the train to London.
If parking is not an issue, I would recommend Browns Bed and Breakfast. They were the most expensive per night that we had come across in our travels, but I guess that's the price you pay for being in a major city.

Room Tip: We had the room at the end of the corridor which overlooked the backyards. Night 2 was noisy as nei...

What a gem! We found this B&B on Trip Advisor and emailed. Marion was quite helpful in arranging our visit. We actually had the place to ourselves as we had enough folks in our group to take every room. The place is spotlessly clean, the meals were the best in Scotland and the location was perfect for our week long visit.

"Pots" (Marion's husband and co-host) was one of the friendliest people we have ever met on our trips to Europe. We thoroughly enjoyed his visits while we were having breakfast each morning.

This is a place not to miss.

Beautiful-, absolutely clean room, delicious breakfast and very lovely staff.
Eventhough the B&B is close to a mainstreet you don't hear any noise in the room. We slept wonderful. A lot of small details made the stay to a perfect visit. Big variety of teas in the room, soap for showering, cotton swabs, first aid kit...etc. It was even thought to put an adapter for foreigners in the room so i could charge my iphone
If I go to Edinburgh again I'll definitly book Browns B&B.

Never been to Edinburgh before and really enjoyed it. Much rested on how good the hotel was and it is! Good value for money, good food, good room and excellent, helpful staff. Would stay again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Don't know.

We had a fantastic stay on the weekend of the Edinburgh marathon, Marion and Norrie were fantastic hosts, the rooms were spotless, the breakfast was lovely, they catered for my boyfriend who is gluten and dairy intolerant and the complimentary biscuits and toiletries were a lovely touch. The location is great and if you have any questions Norrie knows everything!!! I mentioned it was my birthday and a card and gift were left in my room, they are such a lovely couple and are happy to help with anything. We will definitely be staying again! Katy & Olly

I stayed at this lovely Bed and Breakfast for 5 nights at the beginning if May and I enjoyed every second!
The hosts are very kind and helpful. We got a lovely breakfast every morning and even breakfast to go, if we got up very early due to a day trip or our departure time.
The rooms are lovely decorated and meet every meet there possibly is. Not even in a 5 star hotel I felt so comfortable!

I definitely recommend this B&B to everyone that's planning to visit Edinburgh!

Together with three colleagues of mine I spent four nights at Browns B&B. And all I can say is that it is the perfect place to stay when you would like to visit Scotland´s fantastic capital. The rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is delicious, the city centre is within walking distance and, last but by no means least, Mr and Mrs Brown are wonderful and extremely helpful people who definitely enjoy what they do. You do not feel like the average tourist, but you feel at home because you are treated like old friends.

A thousand thanks again for everything - and we will be back, that is a promise!
