“OK place to stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 December 2013

The apartment was a little tired - the fans in both bathrooms were not working, the light over the mirror in one bathroom was not working, the carpets were coming loose in places. Also, very difficult to see yourself in the mirrors in the bathrooms - could mirrors not be provided in the bedrooms? Rather bizarrely, the beds had no mattress covers on them so the sheets were just put on straight over the mattresses - not very comfortable and felt a but unhygienic! Apart from that the apartment was clean and had basic kitchen equipment, a nice big fridge and was fine. Lovely views over the river.

Stayed for a couple of nights to attend a wedding. Big spacious rooms and very well appointed apartment. Beautifully clean and fantastic views too (8th floor)
the only issue was there was no grill pan for the cooker - but I won't hold that against the fantastic value for money provided here

A great place to stay , very convenient for the city centre , Ocean Terminal shopping centre , lovely resturants in Leith. It's an easy bus ride into the centre at a cost of £1.50 or a short taxi ride at a cost of £10 for the six of us.
The apartments were clean and spacious and plenty room for six adults . Our apartment was on the 8th floor with lovely views out to the river, harbour and Royal Yacht Britinia. We would certainly stay again , much better value than a hotel room with more privacy .

We came back to these beautifully appointed apartments for a short break (last time i loved it so much I stayed for a year !!!). The apartments have everything to make it a 5 star home from home. Hot-el apartments continue to add little touches to enhance your stay.
Location is great, great riverside walks along to the quaint Newhaven harbour or lighthouse. If you fancy a 30 minute stroll check out the film locations for 'Sunshine on Leith', don't miss Lambs house at the shore a must for Mary Queen of Scots fans !! Watch the ships come in and out from your front room, or hop the frequent bus service that takes you straight into the heart of the city. We'll definitely be back !!

Room Tip: Go for a partial sea-view, so relaxing to watch the river.

We drove from Co. Tipperary, Ireland to Edinburgh and decided to stay in the Leith area as it seemed to be nice and quiet away from the hussle and bussel of the city centre. With free parking at these apartments and a bus service right outside the apartment block (No 10 bus for city centre - £1.50pp each way) it really was the perfect place for us to stay. The views that we had from our apartment was amazing overlooking the harbour and at night you could hear the crashing of the waves of the shore.
I dont normally stay in apartments and tent to go normally for hotels but this self catering apartment was perfect in every way. Ceiling to floor glass windows that had a fantastic view and a balcony was an added bonus. The apartments were very quiet and never heard a sound from any other guests in the apartment.

On the first night there was a problem with heating in the shower and one call to the reception and the problem was quickly fixed (a simple re-set of a heating switch fixed this) and no other problems after that.

I was more than pleased with the size of the apartment and the cleanliness of same was very impressive.

The apartments are very close to the Royal Yacht Britannia which I would highly recommend as a place to visit and the large shopping centre and restaurants were brilliant. A very large ASDA was only a small walk away.

Room Tip: Look for a room off of the ground floor as the ground to ceiling glass windows would mean lack of pr...

The first thing that struck me about this apartment was how big it was, but maybe that's just because I live in a shoebox in London! It all seems quite new, couple of years max. Furnishing is quite minimal as it's obviously a holiday let, but it's comfortable enough. Only weird thing was that the main bathroom only had a bath, and the shower was in the main bedroom's ensuite...

Location is a bit odd, but the city centre is reachable by a bus stop directly across the road within about 15-20 minutes, and there's a couple of restaurants nearby, including the Starbank Inn which is a nice local pub that does good Scottish food, about 15 minutes walk. There's also a big 24 hour Asda supermarket about five minutes away if you want to self-cater. The balcony has water views which is nice but I imagine it would be utterly freezing in winter!

If you're looking for somewhere quiet, stay here, otherwise you'd be better off closer to the city - though it is very well priced which was the deciding factor for us!

I have now stayed at these apartments twice, and both times have been pleasantly surprised.

The first time was in Feb 2012 when I visited Edinburgh with my dad for an interview. We booked the apartment at short notice, but it was still cheaper for a 2 bedroom apartment than for a room at the holiday inn just down the road!! We only stayed one night, but we had a lovely spacious apartment (bedrooms were huge!!), with all the facilities we needed to cook our own dinner as well. We also had free wi-fi inside the apartment, which was great and worked really well!

The second time, I took my boyfriend down to Edinburgh for his birthday in Jan 2013 and booked the apartment (originally for 2 nights, but booked an extra night beforehand due to us getting the train instead of driving as it snowed badly that weekend!)
I booked a one bedroom apartment, with no sea view (as you had to pay extra and I am a poor student!). When we arrived, I told them about our split bookings and asked if we could keep the same apartment throughout our stay. This was fine and we were allocated a TWO bedroom apartment on the sixth (or seventh) floor, WITH SEA VIEWS, and a HUGE balcony (in fact the biggest balcony in the block, it ran the whole length of the apartment!)
The only thing was that on the second trip, we did not get wifi inside the apartment, and we could only use the wifi in the reception - a bit of a bummer but I suppose it was nice to be kept off of the internet for the weekend! The rooms in this apartment were also much smaller, but I guess we can compromise seeing as we got such a great view over the Firth and towards the Forth Road Bridge.

It is easy to get into town from the apartments by the bus that stops outside and runs straight to Princes St very often - buses are so cheap in Edinburgh compared to Aberdeen! There is also an ASDA walking distance away which was handy. Theres not too much around there in terms of eating out etc, but it's a newly built area, and if we did stay out late we never felt unsafe walking back to the apartment at night - because the area is very quiet.

Would definitely recommend the apartments to anyone visiting Edinburgh. They may not be in the city centre but they are an absolute bargain if you are visiting for a weekend - especially for families!

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment higher up. These have the best views and bigger balconies!
