A frustrating start to our visit due to a bus mixup, but once we got settled everything turned out roses. Gerry is so helpful in pointing you in the right direction to town (and the correct buses) in addition to the best sights to see. Billy was on vacation, but Maggie went out of her way to help in every way possible for breakfast and room comfort. The decor is so pretty. And we enjoyed meeting Gerry's dog, Troy!

We stayed at Gil Dun for 2 nights a fortnight ago. From the time we arrived we were made to feel right at home. Access to public transport is a 1 minute walk to the bus stop. We were told what buses to catch and where to get off. Places to eat are a plenty and all within easy walking distance.Gerry will also advise you to the different cuisines available. We would highly recommend staying at Gil Dun.

What a wonderful find the Gil Dun Guest House was for us! Beautifully decorated, fantastic breakfast, helpful and friendly hosts, all in historic Edinburgh. Great value for the dollar. Comfortable beds and spotless rooms. Gerry and Billy go above and beyond to ensure that their guests are happy and comfortable. It is close to a bus stop so getting to and from the city was no problem and done with ease. There are also several good pubs nearby which we enjoyed. This is exactly how you want first class accommodation to be! Thank you Gerry and Billy! We will always remember our time with you at Gil Dun Guest House. You set a standard that others should try to match! You made our time in Edinburgh special!

We stayed at the Gildun for 3 nights at the end of May and couldn't of been happier with our stay!

Gerry and Billy are great hosts and the breakfasts are amazing!

I really do believe you would struggle to find a better place to stay in Edinburgh.

The rooms are well decorated and to a very high standard. As we have stayed 3 times now in 3 different rooms I can advise that all the beds are very comfortable. The rooms come with all you need and the bed is fixed up for you everyday and towels changed if needed.

The location I believe is ideal, it is a 20 minute walk from the city centre or a bus stop is round the corner from the b&b and this take 5 minutes to get to the city centre.
The area where the b&b is, is quiet and very relaxed which is lovely given how busy the city centre can be.

The rate that is charged for your stay is more than reasonable as the breakfast size is very good as is the selection of food, not to mention the quality of the b&b itself.

We will be returning to this b&b next time we are in Edinburgh, in fact, I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Stayed at the Gil Dun three nights, and it was such a lovely oasis in Edinburgh. Every minute of my stay was delightful. The beautiful room was so comfortable, and Gerry’s helpful advice each morning at breakfast, not to mention his excellent choice for music each day, really set the scene for a great time. The location is ideal, in a quiet cul-de-sac with only the sound of birds chirping in their lovely garden and no traffic noise to hinder a good night’s rest. Yet the street begins only a few steps away from a bus stop with four different lines to easily get to wherever you would like to go, with the main tourist zone of the Royal Mile just a short ride away. There are a couple of really excellent restaurants within an easy walk, and Gerry will help you find the best options for eating and touring. Really, by the end of my stay, I felt like a friend, rather than a customer. You will not find a better place or a warmer welcome than at the Gil Dun!
