We came to Edinburgh for the first time from NYC a few days ago and were lucky enough to find Cobble Tales - I was on the lookout for an architectural tour as we were not interested in touristy gimmicks, and Olga did not disappoint! She has meticulously researched the history of architecture in Edinburgh as well as Scotland at large and provided a detailed overview for us. We were able to learn about the city's architecture in tandem with its history. We were only able to do the Old and New Town tours due to time constraints, but these alone dramatically improved our experience of Edinburgh. We spent the rest of our time in the city marvelling at the beautiful sandstone structures, different types of windows, and of course the slate rooves (all pointed out by Olga). She took us down narrow paths that we would never have known existed to allow us to learn of the older and more modern architecture of the city. We were also able to learn about parks that are otherwise closed to the public.
We have visited Chicago and took many Architectural Foundation tours there, and Olga ranks at the same if not higher level. It was a pleasure to be guided by an architectural professional, and we will book the Dean Village tour the next time we are in Edinburgh. Olga is extremely accommodating, and was very flexible with out tour times, something that was very helpful with our changing traveling schedule.
