“Terrible service, food good.”
Reviewed 7 April 2009

2 visits here recently both with quite big groups. The food is pretty good - not amazing though. I think some of the waiters are very surly and was disgusted when after paying a bill of £900 with a 10% service charge which wasnt really deserved we were asked to leave immediately as the table was needed. We were never told that we would only have the table for a certain amount of time. Some people still had full drinks and were rudely told to leave the table. It was almost like we've got your money now get out!!

“Always visit every time I am in Edinburgh”
Reviewed 20 December 2008

I have been going to Bar Roma for over 14 years now and have seen it been reburbished a few times. The decor may change but the food is still excellent.

There is a wide variety of food on their menu and no matter what you choose it always tastes great.

The waiters run about yelling at each other in Italian, but in a strange way this adds to the ambiance of the place. Desserts are fantastic, but I have to admit to having tiramisu on more than one occasion here.

This restuarant is well priced and definitely worth visiting.

“Over priced & rude waiters”
Reviewed 11 November 2008

We spent a lot of money in this restaurant on Saturday night and the service was disgusting, the Waiters behaved as if we were an inconvenience to thier night and we could also hear AND see them referring unpleasantly to our table , rolling their eyes etc. I will be writing to complain as it spoilt what should have been a great evening.

“Bello bello ...!”
Reviewed 19 September 2008

After the most fantastic day playing at Archerfield golf course we were recommended to go to Bar Roma Ristorante in Edinburgh. When we arrived there was no table available for us but we were asked if we would like to come back in 20 minutes. There were 4 people waiting for a table in front of us and one of them said it is worth while coming back for. We went to a bar called Indigo which was great as they had some good beer on draught.
We went back to Bar Roma and we were taken to our table right away by the maitre' D. The place was jumping and it seemed like there was a huge amount of very happy people. We saw some guys who were on a golf trip from Ireland and they were sitting on another table who also played on Fidra the same day as us.
Anyway the long and short of it was great food, really good service, very friendly staff and we will certainly be back.
We have been recommended to go to the Seafood Restaurant in St Andrews. We are playing in Crail and then Dornoch next week. If anyone has any suggestions for places near there I would be grateful for any suggestions.

“Amazing mozzarella and great pizzas”
Reviewed 5 September 2008

We were delighted to stumble across this place and we had a really good time. The owner chap was cutting some sort of serrano ham and they had the most amazing mozzarella direct from italy. It was just like being in Rome!
We had a brilliant wee waiter who told us about the wine list which was a bit too much for us to be honest, (great if you know italian wine though). It was a Wednesday night and it was really busy. I always thought this place was a bit old fashioned but I was wrong. We will definately go back.
