“Ignore bad reviews! couldnt get better!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2011

just stayed a 4 st giles apartments on the royal mile for my hen do accomodation and i cant speak highly enough of them.
i have read some bad comments about the size of accomodation, however every thing is relative! by american standards the flat (like everything in the uk) is tiny... but by scottish standards and especially because you are ON the royal mile... it is HUGE!
its a 3 bed flat with ensuite on the main bed plus bathroom between the other 2 beds. has a big dining kitchen with space for 6 at the table. plus a big lounge with 3 sofas and 2 windows with views of princes st and the waverly station. so you feel connected to the heart of the city without actually hearing all the noise and bussle.
we arrived quite tired from walking up the big hill to the royal mile and was greeted with excellent service whichmade our day! helped with bags, friendly manner to pay and gave us a walk round of the flat.
i have read ppl have had problems with the hot water or ovens etc and i dont think its because they were faulty... just the guest didnt understand how it worked. thus on the tour we were made fully aware of the quirks and it must be something the company have addressed in response to trip adviser.
the level of decor and maintainance is very high, no major faults it even tho i snag buildings for a living as an architect! so it takes a lot to impress me. only thing i would suggest was some wd40 sprayed on some of the internal door hinges as they squeeked really loudly but thats me trying hard to pick holes!
the group was my 3 bridemaids, plus my mum and sister. due to the spaceous layout there was lots of areas to have group or alone time so we werent all ontop of each other like in a hotel or small flat.
weekend in edinburgh was a real mixed bag of highs and lows but this was one of the highs and always nice to come back to.
will book again as it also worked out to good value for money compared to a hotel where youd be forced to pay out more for lunches and dinners. once we divided it into the 6 hens it was = £35 each for deposit and £35 each for final balance for 2 nights. not bad id say.
lovely, good job x

Room Tip: master bed is big with ensuite but beside main flat door so give to late nighter of grp, quietest be...

We stayed here as a hen party renting 3 apartments. All apartments were beautifully decorated, well equipped and in a fab location. Out of 13 people not one of us had a single issue, we all loved our stay. Would also recommend the "Royal Mile" pub for a great welcome and atmosphere with live music. There was a little bit of noise from passersby coming out of the pubs but nothing major. Streets are quiet once pubs are shut.

As first-time visitors to Scotland from Los Angeles we were very unsatisfied with these accommodations. You can't get much worse than these apartments. You enter your vacation rental by a huge dumpster with grafiti in a not-so-nice part of town. Inside you'll find stained carpets, a TV that does not work and best of all NO Hot Water for a shower or bath. Plus the staff are rude and unresponsive.

Room Tip: Avoid these apartments. Stay in New Town.

These apartments were based centrally in the royal mile which was a great location and central to many restaurants and bars. They were stunning inside, so modern and everything you would need for a weekend stay was provided. We were greeted with a warm welcome at reception which was a lovely start to our break away. So much better than staying in a hotel. We will definitely be back!

I booked a night at the St Giles Apartments through lastminute.com, unfortunately although it is not listed anywhere on their advertisement, if you book after 8 o'clock for the same day of travelling you cannot get access to the apartment. This is because the keys are kept in a central office and no one works after 8pm.

I have tried to get a refund from the St Giles Apartment for over 2 months now without success despite numerous phone calls with them agreeing that there was no way I would be able to have stayed and lastminute.com also agreeing with me. Its £90 of my money that they have had for over 2 months.

We were looking for somewhere as an alternative to a boutique hotel as we have an 8 month old. Wanted to not have to creep around in the evening and to be able to make breakfast for him etc. This was fantastic - great location, lovely decor, very clean and virtually everything we could need. If there was one criticism it would be the lack of a microwave oven - we were able to heat his food on the hob though.

Lovely views to the cathedral from apt 1!!!

Definitely recommend!!!

We booked it for a weekend in october 2010 and thoought the place was good for a short stay. The reason for the caveat is that the appartments are rather small for our family with children. In all other respects- the location is perfect, right off Royal Mile, around the corner from the St Giles... The appartment itself is reasonably well equipped has a modern furniture and clean. However, probably because of the small size of the accomodation, plumbing and electricals are rather noisy... No parking (but overnight is available on steer parks at nearby Blair street, Chambers street and the NCP one at the Castle Terrace... The Old fishmarket close cane be little noisy up until 10-11 o'lock due to ghost tours, but unfortunately no ghosts :(
