Stepping over the train, I was greeted by Wallace himself and felt a warm welcome. Walking into Wallacesarthouse you immediately feel his artistic touch, a clean modern space with wonderful art and furniture that he has collected from his world travels.
My room was brilliant, light and spacious. There were lovely touches in the room from the freshly ironed sheets to the beautiful pink roses bedside.
Wallace's restaurant suggestions were perfect, from a local pub/restaurant close to the Arthouse to a new modern fish restaurant. The area seems to have it all.
Wallace ,with his wonderful sense of humor and sweet smile, can be the one of the many reasons to visit Edinburgh.

We have just returned from a long weekend in Edinburgh (Scotland, UK), where we went for the Festival and to meet up with friends. One of our friends knew our host Wallace from a visit to his former B&B, in Spoleto, Italy (which was also called Wallace's Arthouse). His new place is a spaceous apartment on the second floor of a beautiful old building in Leith, that used to have some official function or other. The apartment is a treat for design addicts: it is beautifully furnished, with a mix of design classics and comfortable chairs and cushions. There are two large guest rooms, with tasteful bedlinnen and funny, thoughtful details; as we were the couple of the trio, ours contained a book about the art of love and some romantic trinkets. Our friend, whose girlfriend wasn't with him, got the room with the television. As a perfect host, Wallace felt that we were an absent-minded couple in need of some practical help. He explained the bus system to us (God bless his patience), gave us some insight to what was going on at the festival (bless again), booked us a brilliant restaurant for the first night and a wonderful concert the second.
The breakfast Wallace served still had some traces of Italy in it. We will never forget the honey flavoured with trufles, nor his strong Italian coffee. But we also got the chance to eat some Scottish specialties: we tasted potatoe bread and fingered a packet of haggis (were not brave enough to eat it, but at least we can say we've touched it).
Wallace's Arthouse is not in the centre of Edinburgh so it takes a bus to get to the festival. But it only takes a fifteen minute ride and Leith is a colourful village close to the sea, perfect to wind down after a day at the bustling festival.
There's no doubt about it: we'll book early for next year!
