“Food to savour but not if your in a hurry!”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

We turned up on chance on a busy Friday night with the sun shining across the Firth. We were happy to accept a later table time and went for a pint and a walk around the quaint harbour. On our return and having given our order we then had six oysters which were really delicious. Unfortunately we then had to wait a very long time for our main meal to arrive - we both had a seafood grill. The late service was saved by the quality of the food. The staff tried their best but were under pressure. Really good food but a restaurant under too much demand.

“Ok I may be sitting at the bar but it's no excuse.....”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

Ok I may be sitting at the bar but it's no excuse to be kept waiting 35 minutes for my prawns and then another 20 minutes before my mixed fish arrived (dry salmon). I asked for cheese and I've never had cheese served in a restaurant that is so disgustingly dry.

Better value at the Brewers Fayre next door - the food is disgusting there but it's quick and a lot cheaper.

“Nice takeaway fish and chips”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

We ordered takeaway at the reception desk and were told it would take about 10 to 15 minutes so went for a walk around the harbour and returned. The fish was good quality as we expected and the portions were adequate. They came with homemade tartare sauce and a small portion of mushy peas. Perhaps we will eat in the restaurant next time. It looked like a nice place.

“Lovely restaruant with nice food and view”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

Restaurants with nice views in Edinburgh are rare and while this place isn't perfect the view of the small harbor is nice considering this is a seafood restaurant.

Food is very well prepared and staff are some of the friendliest I have encountered. The specials seem to change with the seasons which is nice but the standard menu stays fairly consistent. The menu covers a variety of fish and shell-fish but I don't remember there being much that wasn't seafood based so this isn't really for people who can't eat seafood.

The restaurant itself is quite some way out of the center right up in the NE of Edinburgh which means you can usually get a table but you will need to travel. It is open plan, light with large windows to look out at the harbor, spacious and comfortable with an expected seaside decor.

This restaurant is part of a chain, I haven't been to any others but I have heard from family they are just as good.

“GREAT VALUE”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Excellent value, set lunch two courses £10.45 a real bargain. The quality of the food was good.
Service did tend to be a little slow and simple things like having to ask for butter with bread were a little annoying.
I had soup Skullen Skink, which was somewhat different bit still good.
Would recommend this as a good venue for lunch.
On the day that we were there the restaurant was very busy both inside and out.
