“A must do”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 January 2011

We visit Forsyth's on every trip to Edinburgh. We found it by accident many years ago and simply have to go for tea and a snack. The owner is delightful and, friendly. She cares about you and remembers little details that you may have mentioned on previous visits. There are also some hand made goods for sale, such as tea cozy's knitted items, etc. I have told anyone I know who is going to Edinburgh to stop in and say hello.

“This is a delightful spot just off the...”

This is a delightful spot just off the Royal Mile- an experience not to be missed. The decor is antiquated, the crockery is dainty and the service is the most friendly in town.

At one point we were asked to 'mind the shop', as the owner was popping out to the chemist!

“For proper tea and cake, look no further”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2009

Now that I have found Forsyth's it's a must eat place everytime I come to Edinburgh. The Owner and staff are so friendly, you feel you are visiting friends and relatives. The tea is excellent and the cakes are to die for. Miss this place at your peril.

“cutest place ever!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2009

we stayed in brodie's hostel next to this hostel and it was adorable. Its quite small but as soon as we were inside we were made so welcome and it was like stepping back in time! We had breakfast and although its not the cheapest place ever (saying that, nowhere in Edinburgh seemed to be cheap!) our server quickly made us feel at home. our breakfasts came at different times but this was fine as the lady came over to chat to us, recommended some stuff for us to see on our trip and lent us some Fringe Guides while we waited. Also - this was the best cup of tea I had in edinburgh - we need one of these in London!

“Quaint place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2008

We stumbled across Forsyth's Tearoom by chance when we were looking for a light lunch on the Royal Mile. It was ideal as most of the rest of eating places here are high street names which you can find anywhere. Forsyth's is a quaint old fashioned homely tearoom with homebaking and everything made to order. Tea is served in china cups. The owner appears to do most things herself and makes the place special. You could imagine yourself being in an old aunts living room having a friendly cup of tea. It is very reasonable priced.
