we arrived early and room wasnt ready but we were able to leave our bags and they taken to our room the room was spotless and so was the towels and bedding the bed was so comfortable and big we never wanted to get up each morning! The bathroom was great with a walk in shower and a large bath the toiletries were good quality and replenished every day.Breakfast was very good plenty of choice and tea and coffee. the only negative thing i can say about this hotel was the view from the window a brick wall with lots of pipes which made the room dark.

Room Tip: room 216 was the one we had

I'm sorry to write this review -it is the first bad review i have ever written and I have thought long and hard about it!!
Its a nice hotel yeah but one manager bawling a member of staff out in front of me is not the standard i expect from this standard of hotel.... i don'lt like to pay my hard earned money to see staff treated badly.
I reported to management who gave very little information on any practices they have in relation to how staff are disciplined and should it happen in front of paying guests- I think not! Additionally, i was returning from a birthday may and had a beautiful evening until this point - i explained this to the management and I never got an apology for ruining my evening.
Weeks later - i still can't get incident from my mind - it perfectly ruined our experience in this hotel....only highlight still standing is the pool. We stayed in another hotel - a fraction of the price and it was a MUCH more enjoyable experience!! Additionally, we asked for a city room at a higher level- thinking we might have got a view...we did if you opened the window and stuck your head round the corner - we were overlooked by other rooms and had to close curtains to even lounge on bed! Also about an hour before checkout a builder came to our door and asked us were we nearly ready to leave soon as he wanted to fix toilet...soo cheeky!
I'm sorry about this review- but i found the whole incident most unsettling!!

Room Tip: dont ask for city room on upper level - it will not improve view

This is a nice hotel with very modern decor and everything is kept nice and clean. Our bedroom was nice and I really liked the bathroom which had a great shower. The breakfast was decent and had a good selection which we enjoyed. The location of this hotel is good and you can walk to almost anywhere in the fabulous city that is Edinburgh.

I am also not sure why this hotel is ranked a 4 star hotel - it is more like a 3 star. Maybe because of the location, which is very nice. Opens up to street level, very close to Carlton Hill - perfect for walking. Decor of hotel is odd - very dark hallway leading to elevators - difficult to see. Room is OK - decor is dark and cheap-looking. Did not eat breakfast; was not included. Used hotel bar 2x - once in afternoon, service poor, and once in the morning where the service was good. Different employees. would not stay here again. Room not ready on arrival, had to wait 2 hours.

Our party of 7 spent three days at the Apex Waterloo Place to celebrate family birthdays. We had a superb experience. We booked four rooms and requested that they be close to each other, which they were. the rooms were very comfortable and well equipped, although one room only had a shower while the other three had both tub and walk in shower. Yet the rates for all four rooms were identical.
We were delighted to find that the menus for breakfast and dinner catered fully for the vegetarian in our party and that children had their own separate comprehensive menu with some healthy choices and that children eat free. We did find the air conditioning in the main body of the hotel to be rather cold though, although room temperatures could be adjusted to suit.
The concierge at the hotel was excellent and very helpful. He suggested and booked for us a very good Italian restaurant the Amarone, on the corner of George Street. We requested an Italian within walking distance, which it was, 10 minutes only.It had a lovely atmosphere and good food. They also had a special early diners menu.
The concierge also heped by advising us that we could take a local bus, no 22 to ocean terminal for see the Royal Yacht Britannia for £3.50 return. This was much cheaper than £12 which is charged to go on the hop on hop off buses. The tour of Britannia was excellent and even our six year old child was enthralled.
We had a wonderful stay in Edinburgh and would definitely recommend the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel.

Room Tip: Request a quiet room as tow of our rooms wre disturbed by early morning noise. We were on level 7.

Great location but disappointed with the room. I upgraded to a superior double as it was our anniversary but for £200 / night (excludIng breakfast) I expected more from the room. Firstly it was quite small but I guess for city centre location I guess you can't expect much. The more annoying parts were, I couldn't stand next to the bed because of the sloping roof, the room included WiFi that was intermittent at best and clothing space was limited with only 2 small drawers and 10 hangers between my wife and myself. Great service though.
