We stayed in a doublr room for 1 night only at the weekend. We arrived early in the morning and as our rrom was not ready yet (we were told 14.30) the staff were happy for us to leave our bags and allowed us to make use of the leisure facilities for a couple of hours.Although not the biggest gym and swimming pool in the world they are very well equipped and since we aere the only ones in them at the time it was excellent. Any more than 4 people though and it will be cramped. By the time we had enjoyed the facilities our room was ready( well ahead of our expected check in time). The room was a standard double and was very well equipped. Large flat screen LG tv with freeview, mini fridge, ironing board and iron, very large bath and walk-in shower, very comfortable bed and air conditioning. With the Hotel being new the room was very modern and well decorated. The staff were very helpful and courteous. although we did not eat in the hotel restaruant the breakfast was excellent and was delivered to our room on time. One thing the Hotel is lacking is parking, although you get a discount at a nearby carpark it will still cost you a bit. Overall an excellent hotel with excellent staff in one of the best locations in the world(apart from New York)Thanks to Ben Pope in central reservations for sorting out our stay.

We booked last minute but were greatly relieved that we struck lucky in both location and in the overall exceptional quality of the hotel, the facilities and the staff.
Am already looking to go back with my wife!!!

We we only had one night in Edinburgh so we wanted somewhere central, and the Apex Waterloo had been recommended. We found the hotel easily enough (is about 20 mins / £20 in a taxi from the airport) and just a lift ride into the hotel from Waverley train station. The hotel is very sleek, modern and stylish. Extras are relatively expensive (breakfast £14 / glass of champagne £8.50) for Edinburgh but there is such a good vibe and style to the hotel that they are worth it. Our standard room was very big with a huge bed that was extra comfortable. The bathroom had a large shower but no bath. They had good spa products to use in the room. There is a spa in this hotel but we were too busy seeing the sights of Edinburgh to use it. Breakfast and the bar are recommended though. A great spot if you are seeing the sites as you can walk everywhere - but remember to bring an umbrella! Staff can be a bit slow at the front desk.

LOCATION: My mother and I traveled to London and Wales and in Edinburgh wanted to stay some place very central because our stay was only 2 days. The Apex Waterloo is right on Princes street, so basically in the middle of everything and the train station is about 2 blocks away.

IN-ROOM STORAGE: Looking at the hotel online it looked very modern and neat and classic (my style). It was indeed however the room was very cramped. No underbed storage so our large suitcases were on the floor, leaving little room for walking around. There was a wide closet where the refridgerator was located, but it wasn't deep enough or wide enough for any of our luggage.

BATHROOM: very nice bathroom, large spacious shower and nice bathtub, the bathroom storage was very nice as well and everything worked properly.

BED: pretty comfortable the pillows are very thin but if you put the two ontop of eachother it works just fine.

BREAKFAST: breakfast like many places is not included but can be added to the bill. the regular breakfast is not very much but it's better than hunting down a breakfast place around town. You can also get breakfast to your room.

OVERALL: our view was a large slow moving construction project. the room a little crapped. it was fine for 2 days since we were out a lot anyways.

We booked 2 rooms at the Apex Waterloo, one for myself and husband and the other for our grown up son. Both rooms were superior double rooms and were large, very stylish, and had beautiful, large, well-equipped bathrooms. The beds were extremely comfortable and had good pillows (I don't often say either of these things, so this was a real plus point!) Both rooms had very large flat screen TVs, which were very popular and a high quality desk and chairs - the desk had a lift-up mirror in the middle. A fridge was hidden away in one of the cupboards, containing complimentary water bottles. There was a tea and coffee tray with biscuits and Pringles (but no Pringles in our son's room) and the room was well equipped with iron, ironing board and free wi-fi. Just a few minor niggles - the room was certainly very clean, but vacuuming was not quite up to scratch when we arrived. Also our room had no slippers (OK we didn't want then anyway) and the tea and coffee were not replenished in a 3-day stay. I did not find the air-conditioning effective in what was a very warm weekend and think the bathroom lacked an extractor fan. Only minor points and I don't want to detract from the fact that this is a lovely and stylish hotel, which I think will improve even more. We did eat in the restaurant (Elliotts) and had an excellent meal with very good service. We ate out a few times and my son voted this the best meal that he had. Breakfast was also good, if a little pricy, but service was not quite as good. (We had to remove our cereal bowls 2 days running for the main course to arrive and the waitress walked away leaving us holding them). The location of the hotel is perfect, 5 minutes walk from the main street (Princes Street) and also from Waverley Street Station. We very much enjoyed the open top bus tours in beautiful weather (quick tip - if you are going to do this, the ticket costs about £12 and lasts for 24 hours from the time that you buy it - so have a think first whether you want it for a full day or for an afternoon and the following morning). We would go back to the Apex Waterloo very happily and I am sure that some intial minor faults (I know that the hotel has not been open long) will have been ironed out.
