The apartment is so good. We slept so well on a wonderful mattress. The rooms were excellent and have been re-furbished. The heating was excellent and kept us very warm on some cold December days. The kitchen had everything we needed. All the rooms had such interesting views with the front rooms overlooking Princes Street and looking on to the estuary with Leith in the distance. Other rooms overlooked courtyards that took you back in time. The lift was just what we wanted as being on the top floor of a 9 floor building. It was great being able to go out the back door on floor 4 direct into these amazing courtyards and on to the Royal Mile. We also found the restaurant/bar called The Wash at the front next door excellent value for money.

We enjoyed two days in Edinburgh at the Mound apartments. What a perfect location, just around the corner from Royal Mile, 5 minutes to all shops. The apartment was great, just what we needed, all amenities including laundry facilities if needed. We were on 5th floor but there is a lift, fantastic views. The Wash cafe beneath the apartment does a great breakfast and so friendly. We've been to Edinburgh several times and never tire of it, will definitley be using this apartment again, in fact am in process of booking for Edinburgh Festival in 2014!

We recently enjoyed a four day break with two families + 1 sharing in the pent house at Mound Apartments on North Bank Street. The property is so spacious it felt like our own personal tardis finding rooms, corridors and little cubby holes to explore.

The views from the apartment are breathtaking and look almost like perfectly framed pictures by the windows through out. The property is well thought out and kept to a high standard. The Landlady is very accommodating, friendly to liaise with, helpful and very efficient.

The location is ideal over looking Prince's street to the front with the rear entrance falling out on to a small alley to the Royal Mile itself the perfect place to explore Edinburgh in all its glory. We cant not rate this property highly enough.

The Wash Bar underneath were very friendly and do excellent food, very handy being on the ground floor!

We will definitely be returning! Thank you for making our break so enjoyable!

Best wishes,
Phillips & Evans Families :-)

We were very pleased with the location of the apartment. It was in walking distance to everything! The apartment was up to date and well equipped to keep us feeling at ease for our two week holiday. We even used the kitchen a bunch.

It's a very cosy apartment, just big enough for my husband and I. There was some noise (especially after the pubs closed for the night), but when you are in the center of EVERYTHING you can't expect complete silence. If you want silence, don't stay in the heart of town. Even with that said, it wasn't horrible. In fact, at times it was enjoyable. My husband and I would open the windows and people watch as the crowds strolled by.

Speaking of windows, can I tell you about the view? OMG it's BEAUTIFUL! I had skyped with many family members back in the states, giving them a quick look at our view and they couldn't believe it either. We came at the right time, as we got to see many of the fall colors coming in.

The laundry facility was nice too. two washers and two dryers. they were never busy when I was using them. the only confusion I had with that, was that I'm american and had NO clue how to use them. (I have to be thankful that my husband is a native to edinburgh).

The bed was comfortable as well. I LOVE THE DUVET! Silly, but it was so heavy and warm, great for the cold nights!

I prepared many meals at the apartment as well. Being american, I'm used to BIG appliances, so I could only house a couple/few meals "to be cooked" in the small fridge (bigger than a dorm fridge, but not by much) and the stove top is only a two burner, but again- it was a perfect size for my husband and I. The apartment even has a dishwasher! very convenient!

Overall, we couldn't have been happier with the apartment.

Our next trip will definitely be with Capital View Apartments and we MIGHT just opt for the penthouse next time, just to splurge a bit!

Room Tip: 8B corner room has a WONDERFUL view

We spent a whole month in the apartment on the 8th floor and were absolutely happy about it. At first sight it looked small, but then we moved the furniture a bit and suddenly it was spacious enough. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen equipement worked very well and we had everything we needed. And as it was written many times here, the location is just perfect! The back door leading to the High Street is a great bonus, because in five minutes you are either in the Old or New Town. The view is simply stunning and the little noise coming from the street below did not bother us. The owners were very helpful and we can certainly recommend this apartment. We sincerely hope to come back soon!

This penthouse apartment on the 9th floor was perfect for us. The back-door led out onto the upper end of the Royal Mile and the views over Edinburgh to the coast and beyond were phenomenal. The bathroom was the only disappointing part as the door didn't lock and the shower was rubbish. Well equiped kitchen and huge central dining and living rooms. Great central location. I felt good value for money but then there were 10 of us sharing the cost.

We booked for five nights starting August 14, 2013. First impressions are not great as the communal areas are shabby, carpets have seen better days and could use a good clean. We had apartment 8B, so appreciated the elevator. For the price, the apartment would be good value for money. As other reviews stated, the view is lovely and the location is perfect. You do hear street noise, but what do you expect in Old Edinburgh during Fringe? If you want quiet, don't stay in the centre of things. Things went wrong from day one when there was NO COLD WATER in the bathroom, so the toilet wouldn't fill, couldn't shower without scalding yourself. The owners Jill and Ron did their best to get a plumber, but none could be found. Vacancies are rare during August, and a disaster was narrowly averted when on day two, we located another vacant apartment. The catch? Much more expensive. This is where the owners stepped up and put everything right; they booked us in immediately and paid the difference. This experience has made us nervous of ever booking accommodation with no on site Management, but we had an awesome vacation in the end, and do appreciate that these things happen and thank you to Ron and Jill who acted responsibly.
