Wow! What a wonderful place to stay. I have just returned home today from a midweek break staying in the penthouse suite. It is a lovely place to relax right in the heart of Edinburgh so all attractions are within easy reach. The suite is a huge 3 bedroom apartment which is beautifully furnished, clean and has oh so comfy beds. It contains all you need to make it a home from home. Staff were happy and friendly.Make sure you go up to the roof terrace as the views are truly beautiful. The views from the suite are pretty good too. I feel sad to have to go home .

Just spent a wonderful 5 days (with children & partners) in one of these apartments, for a 70th birthday celebration at the Edinburgh Festival. All staff were very friendly and helpful - even managed to bring forward our check-in time and cope with an excess of balloons!. We had a 3-bedroomed apartment which was light and spacious with a small balcony. There is also a roof terrace for all guests with magnificent views over Edinburgh. It was well equipped, except for a grill pan, which made the full English a challenge for our party, but we are in discussion with Reception Staff who promised to do what they could! The apartments are superbly situated for exploring the city and its many restaurants and within walking distance of Arthur's Seat.

Room tip: Not all apartments have balconies - check if you want one.

Stayed on the top floor and was not disappointed. The room was great for a first impression. There were a range of different views such as Arthur's seat in the distance and the train station below. The room I stayed in had a nice balcony, looking below onto the street. Overall, it was an excellent place to stay for a birthday trip. Recommend to stay here when visiting Edinburgh.

The apartment was well located and roomy. The maintenance manager was great and staff were all helpful. The down side was the layout of the kitchen/ living area which was odd and not user friendly. The cost of the accommodation was premium but things like the TV which was tiny, the microwave which was clockwork, and the dining table which you couldn't sit at comfortably all detracted. The fire alarm went one morning, it was reported to be a toaster in another apartment. I am not surprised as the toaster I used still had large crumbs in from the previous user(s) and immediately started smoking when I switched it on. Location, staff and cleanliness great, but the cost vs poor choice of equipment and layout of the kitchen / living area mean I would not return.

This was my second visit to this hotel. Last time we managed to get upgraded to a superb penthouse suite. This time I had reserved a specific room but unfortunately the room was released to another customer. However, the replacement room was the same spec albeit on a lower floor and we were given a bottle of bubbly as an apology. The rooms are clean, modern and light....the windows could do with net curtains (you look directly into an office block). You do get some noise from the station with the window open - but it didn't bother us. The kitchen could be better equipped (limited pans, no microwave bowl, no tea pot or cafetière), but it's ok. No mirror in the second bedroom and a poorly located one in the first bedroom. The suite was cleaned every day with plenty of fresh towels. The bedroom doors weren't great (one slammed and one didn't close without an effort). The location is great and it's a good choice for central Edinburgh.

When checking out (due at 11.00) we asked if we could leave an hour later (12.00). They offered this as an option but at a cost of £25 - we declined. Although it's obviously a busy time of year, it felt a bit mean....especially after the mess up with our room reservation at to start.

But....I will probably stay again when I return to Edinburgh.
