What a fantastic trip, which I received as a birthday gift from my wife who also joined and enjoyed the experience.
Starting with everyone joining in Edinburgh being on time, a pattern repeated throughout the entire tour. Our guide/driver Brian entertained us all four days with a mixture of fun and facts, providing useful information on Scotland in general, recommended eating places during the breaks and naturally on the nice distilleries we were to visit.
The lodging in Bowmore House (Bed and Breakfast) was well appreciated, as the steady breakfasts preparing the group for the tastings to be experienced.
The distillery visits and tastings would be worth articles for themselves, in short, they were all a person interested in whisky could ask for. The timing of the tour proved that it is a well-functioning concept, and the reception at all distilleries proved that Scottish Routes is an appreciated organizer also from the distillery point of view.
For all you readers who appreciate good organization, good whisky, insights in the distilleries and possibilities to get your hands on some rare editions the 4 day Islay Whisky Tour by Scottish Routes comes with the warmest recommendations from a couple who really enjoyed the entire experience.
P.S. Brian, thanks for the photos (especially of Anthony Wills and us), the entertainment and the good time you gave us all.More
