“Greasy spoon quality at gastro pub prices”
Reviewed 31 January 2013

Poor quality food in dingy surroundings. Rack of pork turned out to be spare ribs. Corn on the cob, no butter. Can't describe "mash" Pricey wine, not bad.

“Well cooked steak”
Reviewed 27 January 2013

Have been here a few times. My husband and I like our steaks cooked differently, but both came out exactly the same time and perfectly cooked. I like mine rare, and sometimes this can be cold in the middle of not done right, but this was perfect. Rare in the middle but warm all the way through. BYOB as well.

amazin steak. best we have ever tasted. Only small criticism would be as you walked in there was a curtain behind the door which lowered the tone a little. Would still highly reccomend

“First class service & food!”
Reviewed 15 January 2013

My first time in Edinburgh and this was the 1st restaurant we ate in - I was so impressed with the service, all the staff couldn't do enough for us we were so well looked after.
A lot of thought clearly goes into the food with a focus on great produce cooked by talented chefs. It was delicious! The owners are a team of brothers who also own a butchers so they really know their meat!
Restaurant was busy with both locals and tourists - clearly a well loved restaurant in the area.
Thank you so much to the team - when we come back to Edinburgh this is the first place we'll be heading!

“Average tasting Steak and service.”
Reviewed 14 January 2013

We visited this steakhouse on Thursday 10th January after making a reservation for 8pm as we thought it might be busy. We arrived early and was shown to a table with only 2 other diners present. We got drinks and decided on what we wanted as the steak house began to fill up. More people created a better atmosphere and it was good to see that you could bring your own bottle of wine which a group of males did that we noticed.

Our order was taken but not in order of arrival, but thats not a huge problem although it meant we had waited a wee while. We just thought maybe it was a genuine mistake. The sirloin was cooked as directed but not the thickest piece of steak that I have ever seen for that price, and my chicken and haggis was nice.

We did enjoy our food on our visit but dont think we will be rushing back next time we visit the capital.
