Description: Its name meaning the little madness, Edinburghs La Ptite Folie is, in many ways, a very sensible dining option indeed. Its quirky set up simply oozes Parisian chic from every floorboard and film poster, with deep red walls and dark wood furniture creating a warm, cosy vibe. It perhaps comes as little surprise that the mainstay of the La Ptite Folie menu then is the very best of traditional French food Moules Mariniere, sirloin steak with beurre Maitre dHotel and so on served in an unfussy way, cooked beautifully and simply. The wine list is as much an attraction as the menu too, with a wide range of fine wines from around the world and, naturellement, from France itself.

On a busy saturday night we phoned up to make a reservation and were told we could not get a seat unless we sat by the door. We took it anyway, and were rewarded for our decision with a lovely evening in this cozy wee french resteraunt. The staff took care of us and even corrected my pronounciation of the desserts. The roast rump of lamb was to die for. Felt really bad because we only had 10p to tip them with. Might go back and tip them yet. Amazing.

A good menu choice we both agreed and some fairly good wines on offer. The cod dish my girlfriend had was well over but my lamb was perfect!(she stole half of it!)
Would like to think it was just a small error in otherwise a great meal so will hopefully be able to give this a 5 star next time!

I have been to this restaurant several times over the last few years. You always know that you are going to get good food at reasonable prices. We always seem to choose a nice red wine to accompany our meal. I like the atmosphere as it feels very casual, yet there is quite a buzz to the restaurant. Staff are always helpful when I am not sure what to order. Always a nice night out with friends. We will be back

Been to this little French bistro style restaurant over quite a number of years. There again recently and it is still as good as ever. Not pretentious but very good food well served in a convivial atmosphere. Wines a little on the pricy side but meal overall is good value. Don't hesitate to visit if you don't already know it!

An amazing little restaurant in frederick street. The food is unpretentious but well presented and really, i mean REALLY tasty! We went on a week night and they had on offer 2 courses for £18.90 plus some a la carte dishes. Everything we went for was superb and the wine list appropriate and reasonably priced. The service was great. The only waitress was lovely, knowledgable and up for a laugh! Thank you to her and the chefs for a wonderful evening!
