From the moment we walked through the front door and started to take in the very stylish design features we knew we had hit the jackpot with this place. Hotel Missoni doesn’t just offer great looks, and every little detail is meticulously catered for. We received excellent customer service from the women on the front desk, after arriving a good 3 hours before check-in time we expected to leave our bags and come back later. However, she pulled out all the stops with housekeeping to have our room prepared as soon as possible and even called us when it was ready, our bags already in the room waiting for us. Other reviewers have pretty much described the rooms and most reviews do them justice, I can confirm that they are something very special. Again it’s all in the detail: Bang and Olufsen TV, De'Longhi Nespresso coffee machine, free soft drinks in the mini bar, quality bed / bedding, well equipped bathroom / shower, luxury toiletries and extras, spotlessly clean, I could go on!

The hotel bar was a good venue to meet friends before going out in Edinburgh and the drinks are expertly crafted by friendly bar staff.

We didn’t have reason to trouble the reception staff again until we checked out, but we had every confidence that they would go above and beyond to make our stay even more memorable if ever we needed to ask.

Edinburgh is a fantastic city to take someone special for a well deserved weekend away, and with this hotel being right in the heart of all the main attractions, why would anyone need to look elsewhere? In our opinion Missoni ticks all the boxes, and we would be very happy to stay here again.

As a final note, when in Edinburgh my tip would be the combined Edinburgh Royal Tours ticket available from the tour bus ticket sellers on Waverly Bridge (opposite Waverly train station), or from the tourist information building above the Princes shopping centre. £42 for an adult ticket permits 2 days of unlimited travel on any of the 4 tour buses as well as no queue entry into Royal Yacht Britannia, Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle. Without doubt the bargain of the weekend.

We chose this hotel based on the excellent reviews on trip advisor. We agree the location is great as is the style of the hotel. We were not given a room with a view but a room looking onto a building site which was a disappointment. But the biggest disappointment was the practice of charging large amounts against the credit card which then interfieres with other banking arrangements. The hotel held a substantial amount (more than the cost of the room) against the credit card and this was not released for a week. Upon arrival I asked if a debit card would do but was told a credit card was necessary to receive the room. At no point was it explained to me that a large amount would be held against it. If given the option I would have preferred to pay up front using the debit card but this was not offered. I think the financial practices of the hotel require urgent review. No other hotel we experienced on our holiday had these practices. The practice of the hotel caused major inconvenience in our banking arrangements. Also other reviews mentioned free mini bar and free laundry but we were not made aware of these priveleges and so did not access them. The guys out the front were indeed the highlight as they were so friendly and helpful and prepared to chat.

Dear ‘biggaplanet’,

Thank you for your review and your kind comments about our doormen, I will be sure to pass on your feedback about their great service!

In regards to your comments about our credit card procedures, it is standard policy to take some form of guarantee for the room and to cover any incidentals at the time of guest arrival. These procedures are the same for all of our guests, and we offer the option of either taking a pre-authorisation on your credit card, or alternatively a purchase on your debit card. I do apologise that in this instance you were not made fully aware of these options, and that this caused you some inconvenience. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention, so that any necessary re-training of our standards can be carried out.

‘biggaplanet’, I am sorry that you felt disappointed with your room allocation, please note for future stays that one of our rooms in a higher category – ‘Maggiore’ for example may better suit your view requirements.

Kind Regards,

Julianne

Fantastic hotel, wonderful staff, brilliant location. Excellent facilities. Bathroom to die for!
We had a very good room rate and I'm not sure if such good deals are available any longer.
We loved the design features, right down to the cups and saucers, cushions, bed linen and the kilts!
Valet parking was very efficient but seemed rather expensive. Actually you don't need a car while there, would be better off without one. Depending on your length of stay , if you had a hire car it could be worth getting rid of it for a few days, and you could save the car hire charge as well as the parking.

My husband and I stayed at the Missoni for 3 nights on our first trip to Edinburgh. We absolutely LOVED it. The staff was all so friendly and helpful. The room had everything you would need. The mini-bar is free with soft drinks and waters, which is great after a long day in the city. The breakfast includes a huge buffet and also many things to choose from fresh from the kitchen. It was a great start to the morning. We didn't find anything negative about the Missoni. Also, if you are looking for a great spot for traveling, you can't beat the location.

Our 3 day trip to Edinburgh was our first and was very interesting however the people you encounter often impact the overall experience you have. A simple thank you just isn't enough to express our gratitude for the friendliness and helpfulness extended to all of the staff that we encountered at the hotel.

Just got back after a nice weekend in the beauful Edinburgh...
The Missoni Hotel is a wonderfull place to stay, very central, you can easily walk to most attractions. The staff is very friendly, from the goodlooking boys (with Missoni Kilt) greeting you and helping you with luggage on arrival just outside the hotel, to reception, bar staff and last but not least the breakfast staff is indeed nice and helpful. Breakfast is great, from healthy to heavy... try eggs benedicte!!
The bar is very busy before and after dinner, many coming from outside for a drink make the ambience lively and cheerful!!
Rooms have a great view (Missoni Maggiore) and are comfy, free minibar, movies and nice linen.
Overall the atmosphere is very relaxed, colorful, unformal but chic!!

We loved all the extras like the free mini-bar and 2 free pieces of laundry a day. The location was incredibly convenient, close to the castle and everything else. But the best was the shower!
