The staff were all lovely, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was adequate but spotlessly clean. Breakfast were a bonus - plenty of choice! The food was very hot so no complaints there. A bit pricey but our stay was for The Fringe

Having never been to Scotland before we started by flying to Edinburgh. We booked the guest house over the internet and where delighted with both the accommodation and the location. The staff were really helpful, the room was excellent with an enormous ensuite. The breakfast was very good and being able to walk down into princes street in a few minutes was a real bonus. Loved it and hope to go again.

A well run establishment. Staff was friendly and efficient. Rooms were clean albeit a little small. Great breakfast. Convenient location. A little expensive but worth it. I would recommend it to friends.

hotel clean, big bedroom but breakfast poor.First morning had to send 2 scottish breakfasts back as cold.bacon was horrible so was the sausage.second morning dry poached egg tasteless, third morning egg and beans on toast were cold after waiting 20 mins for this to arrive,so i took them into the kitchen and asked for them to be put, into the microwave.waiter said cold again! on the last day we had a very good breakfast at cafe rouge at last a decent full english breakfast.when you pay your bill,if you pay cash like i did, makesure you have the exact amount as i was told to go to a shop to change a note, luckely we managed to scrape together the money-very customer friendly.

Spent only one night before departing from Edinburgh Airport. The room was very nice, with a very comfy bed, the manager was very friendly. Can't recommend the breakfast though - instead of scrambled eggs you get a pile of completely dry egg explosions (yes, microwaved scrambled eggs...), chewy and no taste whatsoever. When I told the waitress, she said she knew they are not good, because she eats them every day. What a reaction. Their poached eggs are made in a cup, so you get a half-sphere, which was extremely overdone. If you ask for a hard-boiled egg, they bring you their version of poached egg (15 minutes). When you repeat you really want a hard-boiled egg, they bring you exactly the same thing 15 more minutes later with a commentary, that they simply do harboiled eggs like this. When told, that hard-boiled eggs are simply eggs put in water and cooked in their shells, the waitress comments it as "interesting". Oh and avoid the morning coffee at breakfast - the instant stuff you get in your room is much better.

Overall not a bad place to stay, but next time I will look for a different place to stay.

THe Guest House was delightful. The staff was excellent especially Claudia-who was exceedingly helpful in finding a tour for us to the Highlands and Loch Ness last minute. The tour left very early and she arranged for an early breakfast even though they weren't open for breakfast yet. Very pleased with its location within walking distance to the Edinburgh Castle, parks, convenience store, the Old City, Hop on Hop Off Tours etc. I would recommend this hotel. Breakfast was a also good-they had continental, and traditional Scottish breakfast that included Hagis (dont ask what it is, just eat it! :))

The quadruple room was in the basement so not much light crept in. The bathroom was quite large and modern but the drain in the shower was quite clogged, we had to borrow a plunger. Apparently, they knew it could be clogged. Otherwise it was a comfortable stay.:)

Room Tip: request for rooms in higher floors, the basement rooms are quite dim. No lift, so those with luggage...

Although the Queens Guest House has some of the issues one would associate with an old converted home, none rise to a significant level. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location couldn't be better. The quality of the breakfast isn't haute cuisine but still acceptable.
