After much research to find a highly rated hotel in Edinburgh without having to break the bank we settled on Cityroomz and were not disappointed. When we return to Edinburgh, we will not choose anywhere else to stay.

Positives
• The staff. Probably the friendliest hotel we have stayed in. Linda, Jim and Nikki in
particular were lovely and welcoming and made our stay memorable.
• The location was good. The bus from the airport drops you off just opposite the hotel
and the bus back is literally a step outside the hotel. It was then about a 20 minute walk
to the Royal Mile and a minute to the top of Princes Street. There are nice restaurants
close by (including Kyloe) and if you don’t fancy the 20 minute walk to the Royal Mile
there always seem to be plenty of buses about.
• The room was a good size and was cleaned every day (including fresh towels).
• Free wifi!
• A great value breakfast at £4.95 in a lovely breakfast room. They really could charge
more and we’d still be happy.
• Use of a safe (without charge).

Negatives
• We didn’t sleep too well (nothing to do with the comfortable bed). We had a room facing
the street and I thought the window was on the latch because of the noise but it wasn’t.
Our 3 night stay included a Saturday which was particularly noisy. However, we would
certainly stay here again but just take ear plugs.
• The bathroom floor should be in a nightclub. Tiles would be much better.

Given the limited negatives and balancing these with all the positives and the actual price paid, you cannot go wrong choosing to stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the street.

Good nights sleep as the bed was so comfortable, breakfast was a bargain and all you could eat. Dani on the desk was really friendly and showed us places to visit. Perfect stay in Edinburgh. Easily accessible by public transport and just of princess street and near castle! Great location.

Such a good location, bang in the centre of town. Walking distance of different attractions. Room was very cosy and just right size, very comfortable. We had bunk beds but there were options for double rooms but this was right for our overnight stay. Only thing I would say was the reception on tv was not good but we were not fussed by this. Staff extremely friendly and very helpful and polite. Would be happy to stay there again, great value for money.

Booked this hotel as I was attending a concert nearby at the Usher Hall....

On entering room it was very small but adequate for my needs, it was really just someone to sleep after the concert. Also free WiFi was good...

Sadly my issue arose on returning to my room at midnight, when I went to my bed i quickly discovered that my room was next door to the lift and the lift machinery so every time someone used the lift I could here the whirling of the machinery plus my room window would vibrate.

Due to the late hour plus I was only staying a night I decided not to complain but grin and bear it, sadly this resulted in a sleepless night for me thus I decided to check out at 7.00am and catch the train home to go to bed....

I would still tell me folks to use this hotel but make sure your room is nowhere near the left....

Room Tip: Avoid Rooms Near The Lift

Great location just on the top of Princess street, and you can find a big supermarket just in front of the hotel door and can find anther big super market beside the hotel door.
Nice SMALL modern furnished room with flat tv, boiler, iron & safe box.
There is an elevator.
Comfort bed & pillows.
Very good wifi in the room.
Clean small bathroom.
Expensive breakfast so we used to bring our stuff from the bakery I front of us.
You can reach to the hotel from the airport & going back by the airport bus for cheap, and the station is just beside the hotel.

Visited in September 2013 for 2 nights..
Direct bus to Shandwik Plc from the airport..The staff were friendly..Rooms were good and clean though abit less spacious for the price paid,. iron and hair dryer was provided...bed was quite comfortable.. the main plus point was the location...all the attractions, shopping centre, restaurants were ten mins walk away...

Hotel is ex-travel lodge, but very few signs of the old days.

Rooms are tastefully decorated (not as bold as pictures may appear), pretty tight but still roomy enough to not feel cramped. Can get quite warm so get the radiator switched off otherwise having the window open will be too noisy!

Room Tip: Try get a rear room to avoid street noise
