“Fishy Heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2013

Nice location overlooking scenic and quaint Victoria Street from it's first floor perch this is a classy fish restaurant with all the usual piscine offerings. Good choice of oysters. Soups and risottos very good. I was actually not feeling terribly well when I went but found a beautiful light roast sea bass dish that enlivened me. Possibly a small portion if I had been fully fit. My colleague had a fish curry which she raved about. Nice atmosphere, Thoughtful menu and everything delicious. Good wines. Price leaning towards expensive but value for quality.

“Great food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2013

Great seafood, obviously fresh and brilliantly cooked. We had squid starters and lobster main courses. Not huge portions and lobsters not large, but quality was superb.
Service was great too.

“Super Seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2013

We had a superb wedding anniversary dinner here.Oysters, crab and lobster thermidor were just perfect. A nice buzzy restaurant with a good air conditioning system. Any lovers of seafood will not be disappointed by this restaurant.

“Excellent food but puzzling spotty service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2013

I never expected problems in finding a restaurant along the Royal Mile. Was I in for a surprise. By the time we finished the Castle, it was 1.30 pm. The height of lunch demands. Ondine was our first choice, given the reviews by Michelin. But we were told we had to wait two hours for the next table for nine of us. Well, among our party were three teens, so we split up. It took us about 20 minutes of checking various cafes, bistros and restaurants to find a place for the teens and their parents. That left us four adults. We went back to Ondine and this time we were told 20 minutes for four. Given our experience hunting down a place, we decided to go back. Lo and behold, next to our table of four was a long table for six.

But after that, it was uphill all the way. Waitstaff were good. Food was just right: tasty, and not too heavy. We took the set menu and the price was reasonable.

I suppose if you have a reservation, you should no reservations about going.

“It's good what they do, but pricey”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2013

Had dinner with my husband on a Saturday night. A cosy table by the window was much appreciated. The place is beautifully furnished. Most luxurious.

We had the oysters and fish soup for starters which we both enjoyed immensely. My husband's main course was delicious but £28 for 6 langoustines!! Plus an extra £3.50 for a salad. Expensive!

Atmosphere was fantastic. The place was busy and the alternative of sitting at the bar looked fun. Service was good.
