Been a a couple of times recently. A gem of a bar, good mix of people, a tasty drinks list and great looking food. Very busy at the weekend but worth getting to the bar for the banter and pussiebombs.

We visited The Elbow Bar and Kitchen on a Wednesday evening, armed with a voucher for two burgers and two cocktails for £13.
We sat up the stairs with a choice of tables as the bar was very quiet even though it was 5:30pm. This made it quite private. If the bar was busy, you would be very close to others. We would imagine that this is not a problem as it is a bar that does food rather than a restaurant.
We had the “Elbow Burger”, “100% steak burger from Gilmours butchers”, but they also do a chicken and vegetarian version. It arrived nicely presented on a slate, with green salad and chips in a bowl, which is best described as a toothbrush cup, all looking very appetising. The string fries were nice and crisp, not greasy. The salad dressing was very nice. Both burgers were nicely cooked, still a wee bit pink, very moist, with caramelised onions, mayo and tomato relish. We would recommend it to anyone, and it didn't need any other toppings.
The cocktail we both chose was an ice cold ice tea, comprising, vodka, gin, tequila and triple sec, with ice and diet coke. Very refreshing.
Service was efficient, but the table was a wee bit sticky.
We would recommend Elbow if you are looking for a nice tasty well cooked burger in a nice local bar.

The food at elbow is very nce. I really recommend the black pudding and poached egg starter. And the steak main was a decent size.
Today there was one member of staff who was all by herself working her socks off. This lead to very slow service(although I could see the waitress was constantly busy and trying her best) unfortunately this is the reason Elbow is getting a lower rating today as we had to wait far too long for our nice food. Put a damper on it to be honest. This is something management need to look into. They cannot leave one member of staff to do everything by herself when the place is busy.
Will return but hope for more staff!

Interesting mezzanine restaurant overlooking bar. Great music and food with cheery service. Ideal for a beer and a lunch.

I stopped in through the week for a pint and liked what I saw being served in the way of meals so came back the next weekend for a meal. As a couple we were concerned when the sharing platter of nachos and chilli arrived ( Starter). It was large enough as a main course meal in itself. We would have enjoyed finishing it but decided not to as it would have destroyed our appetite for main courses! Burgers were more than fine. And the beer fine too and not expensive. Live music thrown in. Have paid an awful lot more for an awful lot less elsewhere.
