French cafe with a good vegetarian/vegan selection great French onion soup with or without cheese croutons reasonably priced for 2, 2 course meals and two glasses of wine. Nice to be in a restaurant where staff were friendly without always asking if everything ok with your meal. Head off the tourist trail wander down Broughton St lots of eating places around but this one suited our tastes and our budget.

So we are visiting Edinburgh and everyone we've met without exception has been lovely. Just been to Cafe Nom de Plume and feel a little disappointed. Staff were extremely unfriendly, the waiter was too cool to speak .. when we walked in no one acknowledged us, I asked if we should find a table.. the waiter just flung his hand in the air and kindof pointed over there.. when he came to get our order he didn't actually speak and just stood there! I said "can we order?" uncomfortably..the rest of the service was equally cold. We'd have been more upset if the food had of been bad, but it was enjoyable.. so, this is the LGBT centre? we are disappointed that they couldnt even manage basic manners .. come on guys!!!

This was a great find. A lovely cosy cafe where you feel you can sit and chat with friends while enjoying some home cooked food. I recommend the fish pie or the haggis, neeps and tatties. Reasonably priced for an Edinburgh eatery. Friendly service, interesting decor, reasonable prices, delicious food and drinks - what more could you want?!

I have been there a couple of times and I really like this place. The decor is amazing, a result of creativity and perception. The food is not bad-some of their places are really good, and the prices are amazing.Plus they make by far the best drinks in Broughton street :) Stuff are friendly and have sense of humor but I would like them even more if they don't ask you that often if you finish with your food or coffee-is the only thing I dislike. I will definitely suggest this place to someone that wants to enjoy a nice coffee or dinner/lunch to a beautiful place with nice people :)

This is an eating and meeting place with integrity. The environment is unique and quirky – like an eccentrics lounge. The food is clearly prepared with love and care - healthy sized portions without rip off prices and a sensitive menu with plenty of choice for all. Warm, relaxed and welcoming staff - loved it. And someone is a keen gardener - just walking up the steps to the entrance is lovely, even in winter! Ticked all my boxes. thank you.
