We stayed here for two nights as a surprise for my birthday. Great location as it's only a short walk to the city centre and is also on several bus routes. We stayed in the Robin suite which was lovely-the facilities were great, absolutely spotless and I think the bed is the comfiest I've slept in. Derek was a welcoming and attentive host and his breakfasts were faultless, I'd particularly recommend his omelettes! Overall, a wonderful stay.

Just back from a short pre-xmas break in Edinburgh and were delighted with this elegant, comfortable, well located B&B. The service was excellent - Derek is a warm and attentive host who rustles up a mean Eggs Benedict! The 'doubler' breakfast roll (quality bacon!) was also delicious. Concur with others about the quality of the bed and the bedding, as well as the well appointed shower room. We had a room at the back of the house which made for a very quiet nights sleep - you would never know you were in the city centre. Recommended.

We were given this stay as a wedding present for our mini moon and it was brilliant!! 10 mins walk from city centre and 5 mins from nearest train station. The bedroom was absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean. The bed was the comfiest I have ever slept on and the shower was brill. In truth we didn't really use the lounge room of the suite because we were out all the time but it was a really comfy looking room. Derek was a fab host with a great sense of humour. Breakfast was absolutely amazing but there is an extra small charge for the full Scottish breakfast although we didn't mind!! My only slight criticism were the cats as I'm terrified of them and they were so loud!! But overall a really nice getaway!!

A beautiful bed and breakfast, different and elegant.. Beautiful artwork everywhere, rooms spacious and atmosphere peaceful. Everything you would need in the room, amazing shower in beautiful bathroom. Derek was so kind, very unobtrusively attentive. We were just sorry we were only staying for one night.

Room Tip: We were in the room level with the kitchen and dining room, but did not hear a thing, so I should im...

We have stayed in many hotels in Edinburgh but this has to be my favourite. Everything from the exterior to the interior and breakfast was beautiful. Derek gave us such a warm welcome and couldn't do enough for you, our room was amazing as was our breakfast! Our only complaint is that we were only there for one night, our bed and bed linen felt so luxurious. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and family and hope to return soon!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night and really enjoyed ourselves. The location was superb, a twenty minute walk from the centre of Edinburgh. Our room was really spacious and beautifully decorated. We had access to sky tv and tea and coffee in the room. The bed was really comfy and breakfast in the morning was delicious. The b&b owner was very welcoming and helpful. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back again.

We spent two nights in Allburys and we had an amazing time in this gorgeous guest house. Upon entering this elegant house it is evident that a lot of thought and pride has went into the decor and furnishings. It is beautiful and the standards are exceptional!! The music Derek occasionally played in the house created a wonderful ambiance.

We stayed in the ‘Robin suite’ which was very comfortable and relaxing. We had our own private living room next to our bedroom. This room is bright, spacious and luxurious. The bed is extremely comfortable; it was like sleeping on a cloud! The breakfast each morning was delicious. Derek uses high quality, local produce and each morning we had a wide variety of breakfast options to choose from.

Derek made the experience unique and special with his kindness and attention to detail. Nothing is too much trouble for him. Derek is very passionate about what he does, this is clear for anyone to see. The work and effort that he puts into running his guest house made our experience very enjoyable. We felt extremely welcome and loved chatting with Derek. He is very knowledgeable on the history and attractions in this city. Derek gave us some great recommendations for restaurants and places of interest.

You can walk into the city centre from Allburys; however we used the bus which is situated at the end of the street and runs very regularly. Bars and restaurants are located close by.

This guest house along with its host (Derek) is one of a kind and made our trip to Edinburgh a fantastic memory. We hope that someday we can get back to stay there again.

Thanks for everything,

Scott and Leia
