Went to this restaurant on a Saturday evening. At first some of the staff seemed a bit stressed out and maybe not so friendly but as it got a little less hectic they got friendlier. Really enjoyed the Swedish meatballs and with Idun's pear cider (recommend this on a hot summers day, really refreshing). Restaurant had a nice laid back atmosphere and I would visit again.

I went in for lunch on a Thursday and was very pleased to see that Joseph Pearce has lunch specials for a very reasonable price. You get a drink (I had fizzy elderflower), a lunch dish (I had an open prawn and dill sandwich, my friend had an open gravadlax sandwich) and coffee/tea - all for just £6. I believe there was a soup option too that would have been even less. Fantastic value for money and really delicious food.

It's very child-friendly as well, with lots of toys for kids in the upstairs area. We were a little surprised to be told that babies HAD to be upstairs, which meant carrying a heavy buggy up the steps, but it wasn't too much of an inconvenience given the overall experience.

I've been in for Sunday lunch too and had a really delicious lamb burger, and during the evenings the bar is always pretty busy with a great atmosphere. If you want to sit outside you can borrow a blanket for when it gets a bit chilly.

Highly recommended for lunch, brunch, dinner and drinks, and great for those with kids too.

We arrived mid afternoon on a Sunday and was very much a family orientated place - after sharing a good platter friends arrived and after 5.00pm it became a more adult enviroment.
The place was transformed quietly and seemed to work for both family's and later diners/drinkers.
Generally good place and sgood but different menu - worth trying.
