Four of us were booked in for dinner at 7pm on Friday 2 May. We ordered starters and mains at about 7.15, the starters arrived about 20 minutes later and we'd finished them by 8pm. We then waited almost an hour without any sign of the main courses. We asked if our order had been forgotten. After about another 5 minutes two mains arrived, without explanation or apology. A further 10 minutes passed by and then the other two main courses arrived, again without explanation or apology. The pub was very busy and so some waiting was inevitable but our waiting time was quite excessive, it seemed clear that our order had been forgotten and at no time did anyone explain or apologise for the delay. The food it should be said was excellent but after such very poor service we are unlikely to return.

Our first visit here, with family staying with us from Wales and we wanted to treat them to the "famous" sunday lunch at the Sheeps Heid on Easter Sunday. We were looking forward to it, only to be hugely disappointed - I felt a bit embarrased as I had raved about the reviews.
The lunch was average at tops, and overpriced for the quality. The 3 small roast potatoes on each plate were hardly roasted, more like boiled potatoes, two meals contained very chewy beef, and a burnt yorkshire pudding, which meant there was a lot left on the plate. We mentioned this to the waitress and she just shrugged. It was very busy as it was Easter Sunday, but this is no reason to let the quality slide.

We had a 50th birthday party booked and we had a fab time! The staff couldn't do enough for us and service was excellent. The food was very good and prompt. The staff were very considerate. The skittles afterwards were definetly worth it too! Huge thanks to the Sheep's Heid for a great birthday!

Can't fault the lunch we had yesterday. The service was swift and friendly, the scampi and beef and haggis pie were excellent, as was the chocolate mousse, the real ale was very good and we managed to work off a bit of lunch with a game of skittles, Can't wait to come back.
