“Well worth every penny”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

Here isn't somewhere to stop for a cheap sandwich, you'll pay a bit more than elsewhere but you really get your money's worth as it's fresh, local and so so tasty. Yep, you could spend half and get a meal deal from a supermarket or the likes, but if you are after something tasty you know it's worth splashing out that bit more.

We had two sandwiches, a homemade smoked fish pate and roast chicken with herb mayo on some absolutely delicious homemade wholemeal bread (£8 each) each of which were served with absolutely amazing salads (beetroot, mixed leaves, potato, daal)and a bowl of carrot and ginger soup which was possibly the best soup we've eaten out in years (£5). Yes, £21 wasn't cheap but it was outstanding food, we felt full but not bloated as it's nice and healthy as well.

To top it all off the staff were absolutely perfect, friendly, fun and very attentive. Also at the end they even recommended another nearby place to eat (not their place I may add).

It's very refreshing to find such an excellent place to eat where the staff go that little bit further and have the confidence to recommend other establishments. Well done.

“Get There Early!”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 via mobile

We visited last Sunday and thanks to TA, we did get there before it opened. We were glad we did as it quickly filled up. You are not rushed. It is worth the wait if it is full when you get there. I had the juice of the day which was rhubarb (they also offer other juices). It was made fresh there. It was perfect. I also had the French toast with fresh fruit compote...fantastic. My husband had their full breakfast which was great....so much to eat. Everything is prepared fresh. My husband enjoyed watching the hustle in the kitchen by the 3 working there. It is a place you leave very happy. It was a magnificent start to our first full day in Edinburgh! By the way, it is just a block off the Royal Mile.

“Lovely wholesome breakfast!”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

Actually went here with my husband when we visited Edinburgh for the first time last week. I'd looked on Tripadviser to find somewhere to have breakfast and this place certainly lived up to its reviews. very friendly service and quality artisan-type food. I enjoyed their homemade granola with yoghurt and seasonal rhubarb compote - yum!!

Had a delicious vegetarian breakfast (veg haggis and home made baked beans) and great coffee. Service was very friendly and helpful. So cheerful in fact, I left feeling happy. Looking forward to returning to try what looked like very tasty sandwiches.
