“Suprisingly excellent”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

We were recommended this place by our hotel concierge, and its surprisingly unassuming location and entryway do not begin to reveal how incredible the food is. The meals catch you by surprise with their new and surprising combinations which are subtle and delicious, and the staff are some of the friendliest people we met in Edinburgh. We ate here on our first day in Edinburgh and found ourselves going back again and again for a quick snack. Their fresh ingredients and terrific selection will make you wish it was around the corner from your house. Their chickpea quiche and brownies were particularly incredible. Unassuming and simple, you will want to come back over and over for their fresh and wonderful food and salads, breads that make your mouth water and combinations that are one of a kind.

“Must be the best sandwich stop in Edinburgh”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

We stopped off here for lunch with our two small boys after a morning at the National Museum of Scotland. Despite a double buggy to accommodate, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming ... and the sandwiches couldn't have been better. Both my husband and I had the hot roast smoked salmon - one on granary, one on soda bread. We would thoroughly recommend them both. If you are looking for somewhere with some rustic charm (and it is quite rustic), great food and a relaxed and welcoming vibe, this is the place for you.

“Delicious!”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Went for a brunch on our last day in the city, and the place is quite small. However, portions are generous and food is delicious. Friendly staff who were attentive and the location is very convenient. Menu is a bit restricted, but their granola was just divine. Fortunately for me, they had made it the night before and it tasted like a healthier version of pecan pie (heaven!). We also tried their scrambled eggs with smoke salmon was also very delicious.

Cozy little spot in the heart of Edinburgh. I'm just sorry we didn't discover it before!

“Breakfast”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Had breakfast here just after opening thins were a little slow to get going but once the food arrived is was very welcoming and of good quality and the staff were very friendly.

My only complaint was that when you order a breakfast tea and toast are all extra.

“Top-quality brunch”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

I found the Edinburgh Larder a bit of an anomaly, in that it was a top-quality independent place actually just off the Royal Mile. Food fantastic for the price, and lovely to see it made in front of you in some cases. Can't quite give it the fifth star as the coffee was slightly underwhelming. If you're that side of city, no better place to start a day of walking around than the Edinburgh Larder.
