“Good just missing out on great”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

Stayed in the travel lodge in Rose Street a few time so felt it was time to write up a review. The location of the travel lodge is great especially if your looking for a city break then you can't really get any better.I have had a variety of rooms but on every occasion there's been the one little thing that leaves you feeling frustrated, this week it was the shower on fourth floor didn't matter what I did couldn't get any hot water , the last time I stayed the toilets eat had been broken by the previous guest.
The staff are as helpful as they can be and are more than approachable, willingly will help with anything they can.
So don't be put off and travelodge keep trying 9 out of 10 ain't bad.

Room Tip: 204 you could have a dance in there it's so big ,enjoy

excellent accomodation very central for all princess street areas. great beds. very impressed . Basic but for money paid £37 per night excellent value. Very safe area. Rose Street always busy but we did not have any noise from surrounding areas. Reception staff willing to please. No check in until 3p.m. but Anna receptionist was very kind and kept our trolley case safe , but not really suitable for big cases and not too many either.

We stayed in this Travelodge which is in a very good central location. The plus side is the room we were given was a very large corner room, with a comfortable king size bed. There are numerous eating places/restaurants/bars etc, all within easy reach. The negative side was the room was on the 1st floor, then had cooking smells later in the day when I had opened the window to get some cool air, & a constant humming noise, which we realised was coming from the wall outside our window, as a pub kitchen is underneath the Travelodge rooms. We could hear the entertainment in the pub but that wasn't too bad, the problem with the ?extractor noise became apparent to us late at night, as it did not stop overnight! I would definitely recommend booking a room on the 2nd-4th floor, or the Queen Street Travelodge as a quiet alternative, although it is a few minutes further out.

Just stayed for 3 nights.Excellent location near station and Princes Street..Bedroom very basic but large.Comfortable bed but could do with bedside table.Never anyone on reception but always came when buzzed.Pleasant helpful staff.Just one niggle.Hot snacks advertised in room but upon enquiring no hot food available only continental breakfast in a box.Not really a problem as plenty of eating places nearby. Also there was a funny smell in the corridors one day but not in the room.Overall I would recommend this hotel for price and location.

very cheap hotel at advance saver rates for location - very very central. However price and location are the main pluses. The room was relatively clean and bed made well throughout stay, the king sized bed was very comfy. However, the negatives: The water in the shower was only ever luke warm, there was never anyone on reception, and despite the radiator been on low, and window open, the room was boiling hot only at night. Despite this, I would still consider staying here if it was the cheaper option, you just get what you pay for...

Stayed at this Travelodge which has recently been refurnished. The room was light and airy, the bed and mattress were new and very comfortable, bathroom was clean and well maintained. The location is excellent in the centre of Edinburgh, very little noise either from the street or inside the Hotel, we stayed at the Hotel with another couple of friends who fully agreed with us. It was the first time that they had stayed in a Travelodge and they were surprised at how good it was. Big thumbs up for this Travelodge and the staff. Have stayed at other Travelodges in the past and they were have not been half as good as this one.

We stayed for the six nations rugby match and were disappoiunted that a chain like Travelodge should up its prices to such levels - £150 for a double room is too much. And it would be nice if at Travelodges you could have somewhere to leave bags without having to pay £100 for an early check in.

Otherwise this one was in a great location but subject to street noise. The room was clean and comfortable. The small bar of soap and cheap plastic disposable mugs are all one can expect from a chaep hotel but not when you are paying £150 for the night! It would be nice to have more than just two tea bags but maybe we should have asked.

The room was clean and the bed really comfortable.which is a plus of Travelodges.

Room Tip: Get away away from the hotel front as it can be noisy
