Girly Weekend In Edinbrugh

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 Jan 2015
Just a short walk from Princes Street shopping area, Edinburgh Dungeon, Scott Monument and the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Central Princes Street is an ideal place to stay. Immerse yourself in art and history at the National Gallery of Scotland and National Museum or explore the beautiful St Giles Cathedral.
Entrance to the hotel is down a small street at the back of Topshop, street is well light and was safe.
Reception area was small, no frills but adequate, staff were very friendly.
Hotel was in a great location for, shopping, local transport and for restaurants and pubs.

This is a new hotel and has recently been updated with our fresh new look and features Travelodge’s new room design complete with Dreamer Bed so you can be sure of a great night’s sleep
Date of stay: January 2015
Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper I would ask for a room at the back of the hotel as traffic can be heard.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Travelodge in Rose Street for a 5 day break over the new year period. I was really pleased with this hotel and it was much cheaper than other hotels in the city centre.

At first impressions, the hotel looked quite small from the outside but our room was very spacious with a large double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a big shower. There wasn't much space for hanging up our clothes but this didn't bother us much as we just decided to leave our luggage in our suitcases. The room was very clean and housekeeping came in every day to clean the room. The room also came with tea and coffee making facilities.

This hotel is in a fantastic location and perfect for people who want to enjoy Edinburgh's nightlife. The hotel is on a street full of bars so you don't have to walk far after you have had a few drinks. Our room was at the back of the hotel and we did not hear much noise from the streets despite Rose Street being very busy throughout both day and night. The hotel is also around the corner from Princes Street and the main tourist attractions in the city. This hotel is in the heart of Edinburgh and is in a perfect location. It is also a lot cheaper than other hotels in the city. The hotel was very secure with the main doors locking at midnight and a key card system to access the hallway to the rooms and a key card to enter the hotel room.

The only down side to the hotel is that the lift was broken and we had to carry two heavy suitcases to the third floor. It was quite tiring to run up and down the stairs every day and a lift would have been useful but it wasn't that much of a big deal. It probably would have affected elderly people more than it affected us.

This is a brilliant hotel in the heart of Edinburgh and I would definitely come back to this hotel again.

We stayed here for Christmas and found the location to be excellent. Easy for Princes Street, George Street and near a Coop and Sainsburys and key restaurants.
Rooms were beautifully warm and very spacious.
Housekeeping was excellent - including Christmas Day.
This hotel offered a great base for a good holiday. Short walk to Waverley station and Jenners department store. Wonderfully close to Christmas market.
Staff are to be congratulated - chocolates and Christmas cards for guests on Christmas Day was a nice touch. First floor room very quiet and lots of windows.

Room tip: Ask for big corner room

Stayed for 3 nights 2-5th Jan. We were advised on check-in that the only lift was out of order and were offered a room in another hotel. However we like the location of this hotel and climbing the stairs was good exercise for us.
Room 406 clean and comfortable it passed my ocd clean check.
My sympathy to the housekeeping staff who had to carry used & new bedding & towels up &
down the 90+ steps!
I salute you all and hope your lift is repaired soon!
Travelodge your staff were amazing!!!
See you next time we are in Edinburgh.

Booked this at a great price for one nights stay to visit Edinburgh for Christmas. Great location for shops. Really large rooms which makes it quite bare looking, nice comfortable bed and bedding. Only problem was the music coming from the bar downstairs until 1am but if on a higher floor maybe wouldn't have heard it. I would still go back due to location and price.

Travelodge was in great place, 2 min to pubs. Room was clean and very large , checked in early was no problem . Lovely girl at reception , will definitely return. We were at Edinburgh for new years eve celebration, got our wristbands at a cost of 20 pounds each. Don't get sucked into buying them they r a rip off , carnt leave area n then go back in you arnt allowing. Beer was ridiculous price 5 pound for a small bottle take your own. Pubs were better n busy and we're free, ie you pay vat n delivery on top of ticket price . Had a fab time great atmosphere
