“Great overnight stay”
Reviewed 20 December 2013 via mobile

We stayed here on a Wednesday night. Room was clean and spacious. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Location was fine as we were heading to Prestonfield house for dinner. However if you want to visit the centre of town you would need go get a bus or taxi.

We didn't eat here however breakfast looked well stocked.

Only recommendation would be more towels in the room to save having to ask for more (we only had a bath towel each and one hand towel)

10 min bus ride from central Edinburgh at £1.50 single ticket or taxi drive at £7ish.
2 night stay.
Requested the night before, a room at the front with a double bed which is what I got.
Very clean, new beds - basic furniture as ever in Travelodges. Shame the double/twin rooms only came with shower as I would have liked a bath, but that aside, certainly one of the best Travelodges I have stayed in.
Breakfast plentiful and displayed nicely. Had one evening meal which I took back to the room - pizza which I enjoyed.
Would certainly recommend to friends and stay again if ever in the area.

We stayed here for one night as a family of 4 Saturday the 14th December. We had a lovely large room which was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good too. Although a little bit out from the centre, there are many buses running directly outside the hotel to Princes Street which took all of 5 to 10 minutes so well worth saving £50 on a nightly room rate for all the time it took to get to the centre. We will stay here again. We have stayed in many travelodges in our time, some are desperately awful but this one was brilliant value and the service was great too.

Stayed here recently with 2 friends on a leisure trip to Edinburgh. We were originally booked into the travel lodge on St Mary's street, however we were moved to this hotel following maintenance problems at the original hotel. When informed of the move we were apprehensive however this hotel exceeded our expectations!

The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful, particularly Peter who went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our stay! The bedrooms were basic but spotlessly clean and the beds were comfy providing us with a good nights sleep. The breakfast was served on a self service basis and provided us with a substantial start to the day! We had some drinks and a meal in the bar one evening which once again exceeded our expectations!

Based about 10 mins outside Edinburgh with free parking this hotel is in a great location with a shopping centre across the road. Travel lodge provided us with free taxis into Edinburgh centre as the hotel we originally booked was central and this was greatly appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back. Once again thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable!

Hard to rate because the main thing you go to a no frills Travelodge is to sleep and wash. The room I had at the front (303) was so noisy that I couldn't sleep. There was a draught through the double glazing so it wasn't good, it was above a bus stop with the busiest bus lane in Edinburgh, a roundabout, the city trading estate with accompanying lorries and the huge hospital round the corner sent ambulance with sirens going past regularly. For this I would have rated it 1.
The back of the hotel and inside the corridor was unbelievably quiet. Not a sound to be heard. Very different. But for a basic room not to be able to sleep was the most important thing. I see another couple of people were in the same rooms with the same problems.
I did ask each nights if I could change rooms but was told the hotel was full as the painters doing the inside were staying there.
The staff were really good, cheerful and efficient. The room clean. The breakfast not wonderful quality but good enough to fill you up and therefore value for money. For this I would have rated it 5.
The location was good. On the bus route to most places, a small shopping centre over the road with cafes and ATM's and a supermarket.
If I could guarantee a room at the back I would go again but when I asked if it was possible to specify was told I could certainly request one. That doesn't mean I would get one. So I will sadly be looking elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back of the hotel if you want to sleep.

We are really sorry to learn that you were unable to get a good night sleep due to the external noise and temperature of your room suebovington. We do take measures to reduce the noise from outside our hotels such as having double or triple glazing. Unfortunately it is not always possible to completely reduce the noise outside the hotel, especially in city centre locations. We are however really pleased to learn that you were happy with the cleanliness of the hotel and service that you received.

Myself and 2 friends have returned today after a 2 night stay. We were originally booked into a town centre one and moved to this one the day before. We were not disappointed, from the moment we entered the hotel we were made to feel welcome. Peter was very attentive and extremely helpful. Rooms were clean and breakfast was good. We will not hesitate to book here on our next visit, it is worth every penny and is only a short taxi ride to Princess Street.

We've been using this hotel a few times a year for the last number of years and it's one of the best there is. The new beds are great and we both slept really well for the three nights we were there. (Though we did use ear plugs on the Saturday night as we thought it might be noisy).

We were late checking in due to our flight arriving later than scheduled. Had contacted the hotel before we left to make them aware we might be late. I phoned again when we landed. The service we got was fabulous, especially as it was after midnight.

The hotel staff were great (Thank you so much to Claire, Andrew, Peter and everyone else!) and are very helpful. It was very much appreciated in this occasion.

There's good bus links into the city centre and the Cameron Toll Shopping Centre is just across the road which is very useful.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms in the 'old' building are bigger than the new building, if you need more s...
