We stayed here for one night and were pleasantly surprised by the size of our family room. Other members of our party seemed somewhat disappointed with their rooms after seeing ours! The room was clean, comfortable and reasonably quiet. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was reasonable. Car parking was free. Seems to be good value.

Excellent, well run Travelodge! We were allocated a corner room which was very spacious. Could not fault the cleanliness of the room and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff on reception could not have been more helpful throughout our 3 night stay. As an added bonus, there was a bus stop directly opposite the travelodge with regular buses into the city centre. Extremely good value for money accommodation!

Room Tip: We were allocated a corner, family, room in the older part of the building which was extremely spaci...

Friendly, welcoming and professional staff. Superb Bar Café with a good menu. Plenty of choice for my vegetarian friend. The breakfast offers a great range. The new dreamer bed is incredibly comfortable and the duvet and pillows enveloped you into a cosy sleep! The bed was that comfy, and the weather that bad, I stayed in and just relaxed in the room! Great location with the bus straight to the city centre outside the hotel. Free parking and a large parking with disabled parking too. The Cameron Toll shopping centre just a five minute walk away. My first choice when staying in Edinburgh!

There were no hotels left in Edinburgh City Centre allowing a 1 night stay the night of the Scotland v France Rugby on 8 Mar, therefore we ended up paying an extortionate rate of £169 per night for the Princes Street Travelodge, however when we arrived we were advised the hotel had been flooded and we were being moved to Cameron Toll and for our inconvenience we would get a free cooked breakfast and as many taxi's in and out of the city for free. Sounds reasonable, however the Cameron Toll on a normal Saturday night is normally about £60 and a taxi trip approx £6-7 (we had 4 taxi's in total worth £28 and spent approx 1 hr of our time waiting/travelling). We had to ask for a reduction in our room rate on arrival at Cameron Toll and they reduced to £112. Rather than spend 1/2 hr travelling back in a free taxi with shopping on the Saturday night, we chose to wait for shop opening on Sunday to collect purchases (1200 noon) before setting off home. Just because something is offered to you free, doesn't mean it's what the customer wants.

Positive points were the professionalism of the staff, cleanliness of the room and the comfy bed, and despite being told the hotel was full, it was very quiet and appeared fairly empty on the 3rd floor. On the downside, were the very hard pillows, dribble of a shower, and the very tiny washbasin with a large fixed tap stretching across the full depth making it almost impossible to use.

What about the free eat as much as you like cooked breakfast worth £7.95 each. Must be a "luxury" breakfast at that price?! Well .... not everything was available at the same time. We had to wait for the mass produced scrambled eggs. There were no mushrooms or hash browns on this luxury breakfast. There appeared to be a choice of cereals, but nothing "continental" like cheese or meats. I'd rate the Travelodge breakfast at £7.95 alongside with the Ikea one for £1. To match the "eat as much as you like quantity" offered by Travelodge, you may have to buy 2 Ikea breakfasts (£2). Ikea is on the outskirts of Edinburgh, not far from Cameron Toll.

We booked Princes Street for convenience, but came away with the opinion Travelodge were securing bookings for the empty Cameron Toll and that customers could be appeased with a very cheap breakfast and free taxi option. We shared a taxi to Cameron Toll with another couple, who were not offered a reduction in room rate, and did not ask for one.

Travelodge are offering very clean and basic rooms - and should pitch their prices at exactly that ... a "cheap" bed for the night and nothing else. There are much better 4 star B&Bs out there offering real value for money.

Booked two nights here not really expecting much given its very cheap prices. The hotel was decent, modern, and really well located just a ten minute bus journey right into the centre with the bus stops right outside. If you don't want to pay city centre prices go for this place.
