“What a little gem!”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

Went for a meal after spotting high rating on Tripadvisor, easy to see why.
Food was outstanding with some really interesting and varied flavours of which a lamb stew with chorizo and sea bass with mango and chillies stood out, whilst the late Michael Winner might have called the rhubarb and ginger sorbet "historic" . A fine meal and a few drinks in a basic but relaxed and friendly setting, for £25/head including tip is great value.

“yummy yummy quirky tapas”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

indaba was recommended by a family friend, and since i live so close i just had to go! it is a very well priced restaurant with a welcoming feel and yummy food.
It is a small restaurant with only about 10 tables, so i always book before i intend to go to make sure! there is a variety of specials on a blackboard which the waiter comes up to your table and explains to you, as well as the normal menu full of yummy dishes. we usually order 5 or 6 tapa between 2 and some bread. for this and a bottle of very nice south african wine we are usually well under £50 and extremely satisfied after! they also have a selection of yummy deserts but i am often too full to try :(
i always recommend this place to friends, and have never had anyone tell me they were anything other than delighted!

“Lives up to all the good reviews!”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

We made a reservation to go to Indaba on a Friday evening after reading so many good reviews online and being recommended by an Australian friend. We ordered four tapas plus dessert between two people and we found it to be more than enough (although we did order a couple of extra servings of bread to soak up all the beautiful sauces - especially from our favourite, the spicy pork ribs). The menu was extremely interesting and reasonable, but we found the service was really what made the experience. From the waiter bringing the specials board over to us in the beginning, the courses coming out one after the other in perfect succession and the complimentary lychee and vodka shot at the end they were all so friendly and welcoming. The staff were so courteous and it really made the night. Oh, and the crying cake was truly amazing. We will definitely be returning!

“High quality casual dining experience”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

I love the variety of flavours that Tapas generally offers and Indaba has an even wider selection than most. The standard menu offers many options supplemented by an intriguing specials menu. We chose 6 tapas for two hungry people without dessert. Average cost was £6 to £7 per tapa which felt fair value for portion size. Loved the sea bass with ginger and lime - it was as good as any I've tasted. Also loved ostrich and rhubarb and lamb and lentils. The prawn and chilli, South African sausage and chick pea and spinach were all good. Good value wine list at £teens and wine by the glass options. Estrelle on tap. Service was relaxed and friendly. I would return with friends or family as there is something for everyone on the menu. Busy place so worth booking a table.

“Hard to find but well worth it .......”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Our first time in Edinburgh to visit our son. He had walked past it exploring the City and coupled with TA reports we decided to give it a go. Very glad we did. Excellent staff very helpful explaining what each dish was even told us the best amount to order. Tapas was very fresh and arrived just as one course was finishing and the cheese board at the end was really good too. My wife and son shared the Crying cake which takes around 15 mins to be made but well worth it!! All in all highly enjoyable no rush excellent night out, even the wine was reasonably priced!!
