Simply the best Hotel in Edinburgh bar non; modern but still friendly. The refurbishment has been accomplished to keep the hotel as we always remember but "better than ever". Bar was simply stunning. The "Caley" experience remains at the top of our things to do in Edinburgh.

We had booked the POMPADOUR Restaurant for dinner to celabrate our daughter's graduation from Edinburgh University. We knew of the reputation of GALVIN RESTAURANT, but our experience there was just fantastic. On arrival in the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by Nicholas Baxter the Restaurant Manager. The service we received throughout the dinner, was extremely professionnal and very attentive. The sommelier, Peter was so knowlegable and passionate about his wines that it was a pleasure for a french man to listen to him. The food was perfectly cooked, well presented, tasty and ample in portion. In short, we higly recommend the POMPADOUR and encourage Nicholas, Head Chef and the whole team to carry on doing such and excellent job. From my wife, Mia, my daughter Anna and myself, a big thank you to the whole team and keep up the good work.

Room Tip: We highly recommend the table with the view of the castle.

5* hotels are easy to furnish and decorate to get to the top level (just paint everything greige) but you need that something extra to really to get the fifth star. The Waldorf does it with its staff who were so helpful and attentive from the reception staff to the Business Centre team. Lovely service and ambience.

Spent a night here on business, staff were very helpful.
My room was very comfortable and breakfast was really nice, great selection.
The hotel location is ideal to see the centre of Edinburgh and the view of the castle is majestical (really it is). Enjoyed my stay so much I have booked another night to go and stay but this time not on business.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian, or the "Caley" as it has become affectionately known among Edinburgh folk, was and still is the epitome of style and excellence. The large, rose-coloured Permian sandstone facade, quarried in Dumfries, dominates the skyline of the city's west end. The hotel has not only remained a focal point for more than one hundred years, but a symbol of the very best of Scottish hospitality. The Caley's pivotal position at the very heart of Edinburgh has always been its greatest asset. Created out of the 19th century railway boom, the five star hotel is looking to the future with confidence and pride in its ability to keep pace with the times. The hotel's reputation is as justified now as it was when the hotel first opened its doors in 1903. ... more   less
