Reviewed 15 May 2014

This little gem is the oldest standing building in Scotland St Margaret's Chapel built in 1093 simply amazing! I would have paid the entry fee just to see this little piece of history a bonus it was in Edinburgh Castle.

“Edinburgh Castle's Gem”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

If at all possible then try to visit the chapel, set in the grounds of Edinburgh Castle, when it is quiet. Then it is all the better to appreciate this simple building, absolutely saturated with history and with the most beautiful, small, stained glass windows. It may be easy to miss while milling around the castle, situated on top of a hill within the main part of the castle and when stuffed full of people it loses some of it's atmosphere and magic but it has to be the best part of the castle in my opinion.

“Found inside the castle grounds - lovely interior”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

As we were walking around Edinburgh Castle, we came across the chapel.

It is the oldest surviving building in Edinburgh. From the outside, it is a very plain looking structure. As you walk in, you find a very simple chapel with lovely windows.

Everyone seemed to be quiet as they passed through.

“See it at the castle”
Reviewed 6 August 2013 via mobile

This very small chapel is at the top of the castle. Don't expectc a grand site as you would in many European churches, but appreciate that you are entering a place where many royals have walked and prayed over hindreds of years.

“A good stop on the way to Arthur's Seat”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

If you are walking to Arthur's Seat, this is a nice stop overlooking the small loch below. Also a first good stop for pictures overlooking Hollyrood Palace.
