Well it's a Scottish mile so more than an English mile. Many of the walking tours start from here. The street art is high quality and entertaining. The shops expensive but good for those souvenirs. The closes on each side a must to explore.Great restaurants abound.

There is a lot of History and while you take the walking tours you will learn alot. The view from the top is beautiful and be sure you have checked around and compared prices if you plan on buying cashmere. There are tour buses that also start from here so try booking a hotel that's nearby

If you love history and architecture...especially beautiful stone buildings that are centuries old...you will be in heaven on the Royal mile...make sure to venture down the small side alley's called closes...you will find interesting shops, restaurants, and other surprises...if you can go early...its very crowded with tourist in the summer!

I was ready to enjoy the Royal Mile but was truly surprised at just how much was available. There was everything from street musicians to a guy who escaped from chains and a straight jacket. This could keep you busy for hours and not see it all!

This road connects the Edinburg Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Has its ups and downs, located at the Old Town.
