“Couldn't be better!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2013

I was really taken aback to find a big, chain hotel as stylish and friendly and full of elegant extras as this one. Its location isn't ideal, but it's easy to walk everywhere and we could see the castle from our window. And we were amazed by the cool lighting in the bathroom, the exceptional helpfulness and kindness of the men at the concierge desk, the stylishness of the restaurant and perhaps most of all the amazing, multi-story health-club and spa.

This is a luxury hotel disguised as a regular traveler's high-rise, and the joy of staying there comes from slowly discovering any number of surprises you might not expect from a big chain. From the friendly man who checked us in to the view over the screen-filled square below, this place startled and impressed with its cool.

Room Tip: See if you can get a room that looks out on the Caste.

The Sheraton is a really nice hotel but it seems that the most expensive is not always the best. We booked a club room with a castle view for 4 nights to celebrate my Wife’s birthday but we were really disappointed. Not only does the hotel not recognise Birthday’s but they also don’t recognise the need to provide any customer service. The lights in the room needed a degree to operate them and having a hook outside the door to hang a ‘Do not disturb’ sign seems ineffective when the cleaner parks his trolley against it and then knocks on the door at 9:15am on a Sunday morning.

The Club lounge was seriously lacking with its facilities and we found it impossible to book any treatments at the Spa as they were fully booked throughout the 4 days we stayed there. My Wife’s hair straighteners went missing during the weekend and the only advice the hotel could offer was to report it to the police.

It is extremely unlikely that we will ever stay at this hotel again and I would certainly not recommend it.

This Sheraton hotel in Edinburg is 20 years old but looks like it was just built. Very modern design and spotlessly clean everywhere - room, lobby, restaurant, everything! Everyone here is extremely helpful and friendly. We did not use the available Spa, but it has a beautiful pool.

Our room faced the Edinburg Castle and the view from the 7th floor is fantastic. The location of this Sheraton is excellent. No, it is not right on the Royal Mile or near all the restaurants, but it was only a short and pleasant 15 minute walk (head toward Princess street for the best route with no hills at all). I almost booked another hotel right near all the shopping, but after walking around there, we are very happy we did not. It was just way too noisy with lots of traffic all day and night long. The Sheraton is very, very quiet.

You really cannot go wrong if you choose to stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and ideally, facing the castle. But ANY room here will be great for a quiet, r...

This hotel is perfectly situated to explore this fabulous city. It also has perhaps the best concierge we've ever encountered - Wayne - who clearly loves his job and is fantastic at it. He quickly figured out what we might like and pointed us in the right direction. A true professional. I hope to return here again and again.

I don't know how to start this review. I cannot thank this hotel enough for everything they did for us during our stay. We chose this hotel out of three top hotels in Edinburgh to host our wedding. From start to finish everything was not what I expected but what I could of dreamed of. We had many guests staying at the hotel who would say the exact same thing. Every staff member i came in contact with went above and beyond for us. We stayed in the Grand Suite which was a stunning collection of rooms. We had a huge living room and dining room that was furnished beautifully and was the perfect space for entertaining guests during the weekend. I started my first day in the club lounge at 7am where is was deathly quiet except for Joan who was on duty. He was an exceptional member of staff who knew exactly who I was and treated me brilliantly. He was attentive but not overbearing and continued this level of service even when the lounge was busier later on. The lounge itself is a nice size with plenty seating and a lovely selection of breakfast items. Everything on offer is fresh and filling. I then went along to the spa to relax before the big day and again all the girls on the desk there were wonderful. The spa is a rare and special thing. The rooftop pool is relaxing and peaceful and the variety of rooms to explore was amazing. It was like a warren of different experiences to try! It is well worth at least getting a club room to really make the most of this hotel. During the whole wedding the staff were exceptional, diligent and went above and beyond to help not just the bride and groom but all the guests. The wedding food was stunning which is a real testament to the Head Chef and his staff as it is difficult to get top class fine dining for a large group. We need to get to the restaurant soon to try the food if this is the standard at a large scale! The two staff who made our day know who they are and will be getting huge thank yous very soon! The bedroom of our suite was perfect, with huge comfortable bed, plenty space for all our stuff. I looked round the other rooms and the one bedroom suite would be perfect for a romantic stay for two! The next morning we went for breakfast, and although we were all a bit worse for wear, the breakfast was fantastic with a huge selection of hot and cold dishes, all of which were well cooked and fresh. As we were checking out all the staff were very courteous and helpful, particularly Wayne at the front desk who looked after our fleet of cars which were coming and going all weekend from the hotel! All in all an absolutely wonderful hotel with great staff and great facilities. We are already planning to come back every year and we only live 10 minutes away!

Room Tip: Grand Suite is stunning and has all the amenities and extras you would ever need. One bedroom suites...

I stayed here on my honeymoon to Edinburgh. The accommodations were all very nice. The view of the castle was perfect. The location is very good for sightseeing. And there are a plethora of dining options very close by. On arrival, we were greeted with an arrangement of fresh fruit. We were provided a complementary bottle of water every day, which was very helpful to take along during a long day walking around the city. We were even surprised with a lovely little dessert one day.

The only complaint I have about this place is that they do not provide WiFi service. I find this very odd because it seems that every other place in the city has free WiFi - even the buses! But the Sheraton charges around $15/day for a very slow connection. They did give us a break on the charges when we checked out, but it was still a bit pricey.

Room Tip: For a romantic stay, go for the castle view. You won't be disappointed.
