Attended an all day conference today at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and what a great venue. What I saw of the hotel was beautiful and the conference facilities were excellent. The hotel staff providing catering and related assistance, one chap was originally from Malta, think his name was Matt, were all efficient, polite and couldn't have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend as a venue right in the heart of Edinburgh.

The Sheraton is a superb hotel. From the welcome at check in to the goodbye from the concierge, this is just one of the best hotels I've stayed in. We were here for a very big conference and the hotel was full and buzzing, but nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff we encountered during our stay. The property itself is newly renovated and the work has been done with great attention to detail and flair. There were so many plus points I have to make a list...
Room - a castle view suite... Beautifully decorated, great view, amazing bed. There is a complex lighting scheme which gives you ultimate flexibility over how to set the mood... A great touch. We loved the technology which has been so well thought through... A full console on the desk includes HDMI for connecting devices to the wall screen, a European plug, a VGA and all easy to use. Very fast wifi... Not free but we're told it will be from mid April which is a huge added plus. We had access to the club lounge which was very smart with exceptional staff who keep your drink topped up... Breakfast in the lounge was great but for the full Scottish, the main breakfast room has more choice. Delicious canapés at cocktail time. The bathroom was huge, stocked with Molton Brown and with more big fluffy towels than you can shake a loofah at. Overall, a really great room. Housekeeping need a mention... Whole place was spotless but our room was perfectly turned round every day. Their attention to detail is great and the turn down service in the evening was a nice touch. I really like the new Starwood initiative regarding rewarding you via points or hotel spend vouchers for only having your sheets and towels changed every three days. You still have the choice of course, but I'll take the points!
Spa- huge, almost a whole building, with several hammams and saunas, a huge pool and gym and a wonderful indoor, outdoor jetted pool.
Restaurant - just excellent... Ate several times and the service and food were great.
Bar - OK so I love a gin and tonic so here I'm biased... 52 types of gin, a huge cocktail list (check out the Scottish Orchard) and variously flavoured tonic waters for that essential 7pm pick me up. A really good bar menu too, all in all a really smart environment with brilliant Arne Jacobsen egg chairs...
Location - right opposite the Usher Hall, a 2 minute walk to Princes Street the location can't be beaten. A tip... Walk out of the Festival Square entrance and got left to the bridge into Rutland Square... A lovely tranquil walk to Princes Street and no traffic lights to cross.

Overall... One of my new favourite top 3 all time hotels... Will be back again and again. And again.

We booked a two night break at the Sheraton hoping for a relaxing break, the hotel did not disappoint, from check in where our car was valet parked at the secure car par next to the hotel to the fantastic room, with the most unique bathroom, very impressive although we could not get the hang of the lights but had fun trying! Spent the Friday afternoon in the spa which was very relaxing only complaint was there is no sign in the changing room for the showers so had to go back to the room to freshen up. Booked spa treatments on the Saturday, great facilities and excellent therapists, almost fell asleep. Will definitely go back ASAP hotel is so central and so relaxing or can be as lively as you want it to be, there is nowhere else in Edinburgh that can offer a spa of this quality.

Checked out early from another hotel (Staycity West End) in Edinburgh so used "points" to stay one night. Received the normal, excellent service from Sheraton. Good breakfast. Room was a little small, making it difficult to open my suitcase but well equipped.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Edinburgh Castle.

We were going to a concert at Usher Hall, which could not be closer.
Check in staff was fabulous. Really chatty, very helpful and set the scene for a great stay.
Our room was lovely, with an unusual bathroom concept, as it was divided with frosted glass, so if you're sharing with someone you don't know very well could be an issue.
Everything was perfect, but the drinks prices from room service were expensive. Why do hotels do that???.breakfast was fantastic, nothing was missed.
Would definitely stay here again, without a doubt.

We ended up at the Sheraton as a last minute booking and we couldn't have made a better choice. The staff where extremely friendly and courtesy. The room was of a modern design which had a huge bed and lovely bathroom. our room was over looking the square and Edinburgh Castle. We only had breakfast in the hotel which was very nice, but typical of a hotel buffet. The young irish waiter in the bar deserves a special mention as his customer service skills were excellent. We would thoroughly recommend.

Room Tip: Get one with a view of the square and castle

We stayed here one night for a conference. The room was modern and very comfortable. A really comfortable bed and intriguing mood lighting which once we had mastered how to operate was fun and practical too.
The staff couldn't be more helpful and we had a relaxing time out in the One Spa.Great choices for breakfast and nice light dining area.
Sheraton is very well situated and some nice lunch and evening places to eat if you don't eat in the hotel
Would definitely stay here again.
