We came over to Jolly Judge for a pint of cider on a rainy night in November.

The place was very warm and welcoming, barmen were attentive and offered suggestions in which cider to choose, they were able to advice on different flavours and told some background information about the beverages. This was highly appreciated.

Cider quality was outstanding - I particularly recommend trying the one with cinnamon.
The establishment takes bank cards.

Will come back for sure!

The pub itself was warm and inviting. The bar man was great at giving us recommendations and had an encyclopedic knowledge of the ciders, beers and whiskeys served. The cider they had in was delicious and well priced.

Friendly, inviting and feels like this is the place that the "locals hang out". There is a fire inside which was inviting on the cool windy day. Drinks are a plenty. service is awesome. Prices are city consistent.

This charming little pub offers a REAL fire in the grate, cask ciders, and local cast beers and a large selection of (very expensive) drams of whisky (which we didn't try, as we had things to do later that afternoon). Also, another major plus: no canned music...just the pleasant ripple of quiet conversations. There is a small, but nicely done menu of sandwiches. All together a very charming place to take a midday break from a busy schedule in Edinburgh.

We stopped into the Jolly Judge at the recommendation of our walking tour guide from earlier in the day. This pub was very small and packed! The fie in the fireplace was a welcome sight on this blustery day! After standing for just a bit we found a table for 4 and ordered our lunch. Mostly sandwich, salad, soup fare. They do have a daily special. Service was quick despite the packed house. Nice beer selection with cask ales on draught. Great traditional pub off the royal mile.

Stumbled across this hidden pub whilst walking down the Royal Mile. The staff were friendly and offered suggestions from the extensive gin selection. A cosy little pub with lots of character - would definitely visit again if I’m ever in Edinburgh again.

This is a wee hidden gem of a bar and we just love coming back here when visiting.

There's a great vibe in this old style traditional bar where you can relax over a good pint near the open fire and just enjoy the buzz around you.

If you don't know where this pub is you should go out of your way to find it and pay a visit, you should not be disappointed.

We stopped in at the Jolly Judge today for lunch. Soup and a toastie for a little over £5. Really nice toasty and a nice spicy bean soup.

I've visited this place every time I go to Edinburgh and still love it

In the old town it is hard to find a place that is genuine. This is a great little pub with a good selection of proper non commercial cider and some real ale. It her plenty of whiskey, but not in a pretentious way. I love this little place. Decor is cool without being contrived.

I have seen some moaning about the service, but I found it ok if you are polite. Definitely coming here again
