“Great for girls weekend!”
Reviewed 16 April 2012

We had a fabulous time celebrating a friend's hen do at the Bonham. We booked a junior suite which was perfect for three girls. The room was very luxurous and a good size, with a great separate living area. We had breakfast in the room both days, and dinner in the hotel one night (really enjoyable!). The staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. Highly reccommend.

We stayed here for 2 nights 4th-6th April 2012, and I have to say, we left disappointed. We booked a suit (room 104), which had a fantastically huge living room, comfortable bedroom, and a really tired (but very clean) bathroom. If you're looking for a boutique hotel bathroom that offers the wow-factor, then this isn't the hotel for you.

Part of our package included a 'complimentary soft drinks mini-bar' and 'complimentary sweet treats'. Now, if these little extras are the sort of thing that can help make-or-break a where-to-stay decision for you, then please bear in mind that the 'soft drinks mini-bar' consisted of 2 cans of coke, 1 can of diet & 2 bottles of water. The 'sweet treats' were a Kit-Kat and small bar of Green & Blacks chocolate. We did ask for additional soft drinks, which came in glass bottles but without a bottle opener. We asked twice, but resorted to opening them with our door key.

The suit was at the front of the hotel, over-looking Drumsheugh Gardens, and, perhaps it's due to the re-routing of the traffic due to the tram construction upheaval, but we found the traffic noise at night and early in the morning quite intrusive.

In general, we found the service a little off-hand...nobody was unpleasant, but they weren't particuarly friendly or helpful either. Breakfast was fine, but didn't blow us away.

Having stayed at the Bonham's sister hotel, Blythswood Square in Glasgow, we had high expectations as it had really delivered. The Bonham, unfortunately, couldn't compete in terms of style, decor and service.

On the plus side, the Bonham's location is good.

My acid-test is always: would I recommend this hotel to a friend? Would I choose to stay here again. Unfortunately the answer to both is no.

Stayed here for business a few time - very nice rooms, hotel located on a delightful quiet square. Good for the West end, bit of a hike for Waverly station esp if the weather is bad. Service very good too. Comfy beds. Rooms have nice decor (mine did anyway). The bar was under construction when i stayed there last but it looked interesting....

My partner and I stayed for two nights recently after being given some vouchers at christmas. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and our petite room was more than ample with its queen size bed with fabulous mattress. We looked out over the back and it was lovely to see all the different types of buildings and it was very quiet. Breakfast was served piping hot and also plenty on the buffet table. Some parking available at rear of hotel. The little bar served a great variety of whisky and some cocktails, the barman willing to make anything you wished !
All in all a very pleasant and relaxing stay, we will be returning in the months to come and may not ever stay anywhere else again whilst in Edinburgh.

Room Tip: we stayed on first floor facing the back which was quiet

We stayed at the Bonham recently for one night and it was an excellent stay. The room was very spacious and the views were beautiful. The staff were all very friendly and it was great value for money. We had breakfast in the room over looking the city and the dinner was also of a high quality. I would definitely visit again.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room at the back of the hotel which had great views

We stayed here for one night whilst on a short trip in Edinburgh. We arrived early with the hope to be able to park our car in the hotel car park and check in later but our room was ready and the very pleasant reception lady checked us in straight away which was very helpful. We booked a petit room and the size of the room was perfectly fine. A nice big comfy bed, dressing table, full size bathroom etc. I guess if you were staying for a week u maybe would like more wardrobe space but lets face it most people live out of there suitcase for a short break anyway. The room was modern, clean and we were lucky enough to have a nice view. Nice tolietries were provided. Breakfast was lovely, cooked and presented well. Nice restaurant area and pleasant staff.
The hotel is in a nice area of Edinburgh. Bars, restaurants and shops are in easy reach and I would say Edinburgh Castle is approximately 10 mins walk away.
Overall I would say this is a nice little modern hotel with friendly staff and nice food. It was definitely worth the money.

Lovely quiet location with excellent reception staff. All requests were dealt with efficiently and politely. Great value for money in a City location close to shops etc. and excellent breakfast included.

The room was lovely and had a view over Drumsheugh Gardens. The bathroom was adequate but looking a little tired. Lighting over the mirror in the bedroom was poor and I had to stretch over the toilet in the bathroom to apply make-up but a small concern!

Room service was brilliant and the bar service wonderful. Looking forward to visiting again.

Room Tip: We were in a standard room - room 300 - ask for a room with a view
