“Boutique hotel in an old building with a quaint feel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2012

Boutique hotel in an old building with a quaint feel. We arrived early hoping for an early check-in (before noon). Fortunately, they were able to accommodate us, there were 5 rooms total with our large group…only one couple had to wait for 45 minutes until they had a clean room available. It was kind of a maze to find our room, there were closed doors leading to sections of multiple rooms. The hotel was in an old building but the rooms had been renovated and were very large with high ceilings. Over-sized windows overlooked Edinburgh, our view on the 1st floor, in the back side was pretty nice. The staff was helpful and the breakfast buffet was good; they had menu items as well as a buffet-style layout. I regret not trying the restaurant for dinner, the menu looked really good, but pricey.
The bad …because of the large windows and poor insulation, the room became chilly, the heaters were on a timed-controlled meter so we had to request an additional space-heater. There was no safe available in the room. The shower pressure was kind of low in our room, maybe due to old plumbing.
Overall- I liked the hotel, it was very homey and I think they did a great job with the renovation and styling, with what they had to work with.

Room Tip: 1) Ask the front desk about the heating- if needed 2) The hair-dryer was tucked in a desk drawer, n...

Just returned from a lovely weekend in Edinburgh staying at the Bonham Hotel. We booked a superior room as it was an anniversary treat but don't think the little extras warranted the money. Tha hotel is spotless very comfortable beds and fantastic ensuite. However the service could be improved especially for 350 pounds for 2 nights! We had to ask 3 times and wait for 30 minutes for some fresh milk and decaf tea bags for our room. The breakfast was a good selection but the female staff did not appear to enjoy their job! We had cooked breakfast brought to us at different times both days meaning that the first day my husband ate on his own and the second day having asked to have it brought out togesther mean't a reheated dry second attempt.Having said that the evening meal was well organised, excellent quality although limited choice if you want a main meal under 22 pounds so do check out the menu before booking. We did enjoy our stay and loved Edinburgh but would probably stay at another hotel next time as feel it was not worth the money we paid.

Room Tip: Rooms are all very quiet and excellent location for easy walk to main attractions.

What a lovely hotel! It has a mixture of old and new decor. Facilities were excellent. Staff were really friendly and helpfull. Has a car park at the rear which is an added bonus as parking can be a nightmare in Edinburgh. The cooked breakfast was delicious although a little on the small portion side. My only negative comment is they has a kettle in the room but no cups etc for having tea/coffee. Not sure if they just forgot to put it in the room. The bed was so comfy slept like a log! Definately be back!

We stayed in a "Petit room with queen bed" on one of the top floors with a lovely view of the Forth river. The room was small but very comfortable with a nice decor. Good breakfast with fresh orange juice. Very good rates on home page if you book early.
Will definitely book it again! Short walk to city center.

I recently stayed at the Bonham hotel and was most impressed by the quality of service. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location is also excellent as, while it is on a very quiet street, it is just a few minutes walk to the city centre. A terrific base for visiting this fantastic city.

We stayed one night at the Bonham, and enjoyed it very much. Great location, silent area, walking distance to Princess st etc.
Nice atmosphere and definitively a boutique hotel when it comes to the atmosphere and more personalized style. The bed was one of the best I´ve slept in.
Recomended, and we´d like to stay at the bonham for our next stay in E.burgh.
