“A Brilliant 4 night Stay”
Reviewed 1 March 2013

I got a great WINTER break here for 4 nights in a superior double room. The room was outstanding in all aspects. Seating is important to us. There was a sofa and 3 chairs for the 2 of us. Decor was chic and comfortable. Ensuite had lots of room to move around in. Tv was large and lighting was atmospheric. The room was 308, this had a panoramic view North over the city and the hills in the distance. Excellent. Breakfast had some interesting cooked options like Orkney kipper as well as the Scottish full monty. We had dinner here at 6.30 to get an early bird special deal. Could not fault this meal. The only thing I do not understand is why it is not in the Michelin guide. The location is great for the city. We walked into the city each day to site see. The streets are a pleasure and full of architectural gems. One really great aspect of our stay is FREE CAR PARKING. I just drove there. Parked at the back and walked. Other hotels can charge a fortune so this is a great deal and very east to get to without a sat nav. (I am old school map and brain nav). I can advise anyone to stay here . The hotel is full of great art. Love the tube light on the stairs. Sit on the red velvet spiral seat in reception, enjoy huge photos and original art on canvas. It would be good for them to have a room with changing art. Everything was clean to perfection, all staff a delight and we were made to feel special.

Room Tip: 308 superb view

We arrived here two days ago and are very impressed. Check in staff friendly and helpful, parking was all sorted. It is a beautiful old building with stunning wood paneled staircase. Our room was a little small, was hard to fit two suitcases, but was a quirky design with bathroom down a couple of steps, so that was cute. We had wonderful views over Edinburgh out to the sea. Breakfast was great, service there excellent, and so nice to see waiters and all staff dressed in wonderful professional uniforms. We retired for drinks to the bar and had lots of fun with our waiters. Dinner next evening, again could not fault the service or food. Great location too, would definitely stay here again.

This was our second stay at this wonderful hotel and we again had a super faultless visit. Room was great, very peaceful and bed so comfy. Breakfast was yummy and checkout time at midday on a Sunday was just heavenly . We will definately be back. Great location and even greater hotel. Many thanks to all the staff.

I stayed here on Sunday night with my girlfriend for her Birthday and it was amazing. In fact probably the nicest room I've ever stayed in, with beautiful views over the city. She actually said the very same as soon as we got to our room. The hotel staff left chocolates and a message for her also which was a lovely touch. The room rate was very good and well worth it, and we also went for lunch in the restaurant which was also top class. The staff were excellent and the location is ideal. All in all a great experience and I'd rate it up there with the best stays I have enjoyed anywhere, in any city.

So there.

We stayed at the end of January 2013. The whole experience was perfect. Late check out and breakfast in bed!
The eggs benedict are quite simply exquisite.
We upgraded to a superior room with so much space and stunning views.
Can't fault it. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed here using an Itison voucher and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff were efficient, friendly and very helpful. Our room (mini-suite) was magnificent and I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed retiring to it after our superb dinner. We lit the gas fire, put on some music (using the i-pod dock in the room), settled down on the lovely squashy settees to generally relax, watch tv and chat.
The only thing I would say is that the bedroom was a bit draughty, even with the curtains closed, and due to the fact that the room was front facing there was a bit of traffic noise in the morning. Also, the decor was what can be most kindly described as citrus colours - which I did not think was entirely suitable - but it certainly wasn't enough to put me off in any way.
The hotel itself is well situated and within easy walking distance of Princes Street and the other bonus for Edinburgh is that it has a small private car park to the rear.
I loved my stay at The Bonham and it really considered it to have been a proper treat. We would have no hesitation in staying again.
