“Wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2013 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here at the end of April it is a lovely hotel in a quiet street just a ten min walk from princes street.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
The room was described as a small room but was very spacious and bathroom a good size - comfy beds, spacious wardrobe and room was always lovely and warm.
Breakfast was superb with a good range of cereals and other delights on the buffet side and the cooked breakfasts also superb just enough.
Overall a lovely stay

Stayed here in March for one night only, and we had a great stay, with a great room with a view over the firth of forth. The hotel does have a few car parking spaces but it is a 5 minute walk from Haymarket station. The reception staff were very efficient and friendly. Our stay included a complimentary bottle of prosecco and very nice it was too, breakfast and dinner both of which were excellent and although our meals were included in the price ,the prices on the menu were very reasonable, especially for a hotel in the capital city. Overall a enjoyable experience with great staff, we will definately be back!

I've stayed at the Bonham a nymber of times and it never fails to delight. The rooms are excellently furnished in contemporary but comfortable style. The beds are very comfortable with good linens. Rooms at the back have spectacular views to Leith and those at the front are perfectly quiet in this peaceful square (actually a triangle) within easy walking distance of the city centre. It's a particularly good location if you want to visit the Scottish Museum of Modern Art being half way between that (a lovely walk along the Water of Leith) and the main Museum of Art. The restaurant serves very fine breakfasts with a buffet and lots of choice cooked to order and is also a gret place to eat modern Scottish food if you don't want to venture out in the evening.
My only quibble, and it's a small one, is the large pump action potion containers in the bathrooms - this always strikes me as a bit cheap and they never work properly, so you might want to take your own shampoo. Otherwise, you can't do better in Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back floors 3 &4 have best views. 306 is lovely.

We stayed at The Bonham for one evening(only a flying visit to Edinburgh) in a Superior Double room 306. Everything about our stay was excellent, the staff were very helpful, the bed was comfy, the car parking is limited but we got a space and the Breakfast and service were also excellent. The only thing i will say against the hotel is the lack of complimentary bottled water.
We will definitely be staying again in the future.

Room Tip: Room 306 on the 3rd floor has some excellent views.

We had a 2 night stay in standard room (317).nice view over gardens and edinburgh rooftops.Hotel has rear car park which must be unique for centre of Edinburgh.Comfortable room and fabulous breakfast of top class ingredients.Haggis and Black pudding were exceptional.Cosy bar, lounge and very friendly obliging staff.
Will definitely be staying there again. The view from the superior rooms over the Firth of Forth is stunning.

Room Tip: Upper floor(lift) especially overlooking Firth.

While the hotel generally lives up to its billing, it lets itself down with some of the room details. There was no in room safe, a reception security box is an option, however the hotel takes no responsibility for anything left in it, although I don't expect insurance as such, I would like to be given some level of comfort that my belongings would be safe. The bathroom didn't have a window, which is fine however it didn't have any sort of extractor fan either. The mirror in the bathroom was not above the sink, it was actually above the toilet, shaving was a somewhat troublesome task therefore. There was no complimentary drinking water provided in the room and also only sparkling water available in the mini bar. The mini bar also was an electronic charge version, not classy at all.

Thank you so much for your review. I am so sorry that we did not meet with all of your expectations during your stay.
Please accept my apologies for the incorrect information you were provided with , with regard to the use of the hotel safe. We would of course ensure that your belongings and that of all our guests are kept safe and secure at all times.
I will be asking my maintenance team to look at the extraction fan in your room , this should have been in full working order and i am sorry that this was not the case during your stay.
I am extremely grateful to you for all of your comments and will be contacting you direct to discuss them further.

Kind regards

I was recommended this hotel by a work colleague. I am so glad that I took his advice, the hotel is fabulous. Arrived on a wet day, but received a very warm welcome by the reception staff, they explained everything to us, and took us to the lift. They pointed out where we should go for breakfast the following day and also where we could get drink later if we needed. The room, on the fourth floor, was fab. Very spacious, great view out over new town Edinburgh. We only stayed over night, but the walk into town was only 10 minutes, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast the next morning was superb, could not ask for more, or better service. We left our bags while we had a final walk around Edinburgh and when we came back, they called a cab for us to take us back to the airport. Will be coming back here for sure.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 401 on my stay, was superb, great view and spacious!
