“Great stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed over new year with a package that included dinner and a ticket to the street party. The hotel and the room was great, very quiet with spotless rooms. The food was good too, but some of the staff were new to the job and it may have made our stay perfect once they were up to speed.its not cheap but it's location was good and it was also Scotland over new year! Well worth it.

I took my mum here for her birthday and we LOVED It. It is gorgeously decorated - it is new, clean, classic and stylish. The service was outstanding and all the staff were so kind and helpful.

They suggested a number of delicious restaurants we visited over our long weekend and gave my mum a free glass of bubbly to celebrate her birthday.

The rooms were a great size and we even had enough room for all the clothes we bought! I would recommend this to anyone who likes a stylish boutique hotel. It is mainly an adult vibe but I imagine if your children are well behaved you would be very comfortable here.

I will be back as soon as i can.

The Bonham is very well located being in a very quiet Georgian square but within walking distance of Princes street and Modern galleries to the west. The reception and dinning areas are well decorated. The main staircases are impressive but rather empty of decoration.

The room i had was large for a room described as "petite" although its a lottery whether you get one facing the Georgian square, i had a view of the car park but also the sea in the distance. I dont know if it was just this room but there was a tall narrow window on the right hand side whilst the left had a small window almost near the ceiling which meant you had no view when in bed and meant you had to sit in a chair to get a view. The bathroom needed new grouting. The decor of the bedroom was clean but slightly over the top with a huge headboard with luminous plum upholstery which rather than boutique looked more middle eastern dictator chic. The restaurant evening menu is very high end for the price although the waiters/waitresses seem a bit young and unconfident. In all it could be an exceptional hotel with a few tweaks.

Just stayed here for 2 nights and it was the best hotel we've stayed at in Edinburgh, so much so we signed up to a loyalty card & will revisit for our annual Fringe trip! The room was spacious, well laid out & a nice big bathroom. It was quite warm but you can get over that as the building is old and without AC and reception sent us a fan up to use which was ideal. Breakfast was lovely, great setting & choice!
Location is perfect as it's a short walk to princes street but far enough away from the hustle & bustle! Very friendly staff & definitely one to book

Spent 2 nights here. Our room was downstairs overlooking the carpark! We had booked a 'petite double.' It WAS compact but had all you needed if just looking for a base while sight seeing. Very comfortable 5ft bed, 2 arm chairs, big flat screen tv, free wifi, wardrobe etc. The bathroom was lovely and spacious. Bath and shower (shower did get the floor very wet though) lovely toiletries, big fluffy towels, very modern and tiled.

The only thing in the room which we felt was not good, was the kettle! It had to be turned off manually at the socket each time. It was not automatic. It does warn you not to leave the kettle unattended, but it did seem strange for a hotel like this not to have an automatic kettle!

The breakfast was wonderful!! So much choice, cold meats, cheese, fruit galore, pastries, cereals, breads, juices etc. Then there was the cooked menu! It is all cooked to order which was lovely, no buffet. I had the full Scottish one day and French Toast with bacon and maple syrup the next. All delicious!

The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel very quiet overlooking gardens at the front. There is a free carpark at the back. I believe the restaurant is very good, but we didn't have dinner there, the menu looked excellent though.

The location is very good. You can walk to the main shopping area in 5 minutes to Princes Street and up to the castle too (forgot to time that, 30-40 minutes maybe?), and yet it is very quiet for a hotel in a busy city.

It was a very comfortable stay and we would happily stay again if returning to Edinburgh.
We got a cab from the airport which cost about £16 which we thought was pretty good as we were told it would be £20-25!

Stayed over the first weekend of the Tattoo and Fringe Festival. Big rooms, amazingly comfortable beds with lovely linen, very quiet whilst only a 5 minute walk into the heart of the city. The staff were welcoming and helpful, good breakfasts and very reasonably priced for that time of year in Edinburgh. We will definitely be visiting again.

An amazing hotel, extremely well maintained with friendly & helpful staff. Very close to the city centre so everything is within walking distance. It is quite expensive but you get what you pay for, so well worth the money in my opinion.
