Just returned from a one night stay in Room 1 (with the copper bath) - on the whole the room is nice, but a bit scuffed and the bed (slightly scruffy divan bases showing) and carpet (more like an office and a slightly off colour) were not in keeping with the rest of the room. We also felt that some of the beautiful features in the hotel were being spolit by cheap additions such as the plastic shower tray and fake oak door. Buffet breakfast not extensive, but cooked food was lovely and pipping hot. Good free car park at the rear and a great location. Jury is still out on whether we would go back

We stayed here for 1 night in May. The room was tastefully furnished with a large and very comfortable bed. Molton Brown toiletries provided in the bathroom which had a window which could be opened. Dressing gowns provided and a Babyliss hairdrier. We arrived around 12 noon and our room was not ready so we went for a walk, Princess St just a 5 min walk away. When we returned our cases were waiting for us in our room. We requested to keep on our room for an extra hour the next morning as we were attending a wedding and this was met in a very postive way without any charge levied. An excellent selection of food was available for breakfast and the service was excellent. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a belated review following a 3 day stay at the Bonham in March 2009. The decision to stay there was made after extensive research. I was impressed by the website, and the price for a midweek break came to about £100 pernight per room including breakfast. In reality the room was better than I'd imagined - spacious, clean, large bathroom, street-facing, and the hotel was generally quiet. Staff were pleasant, and do treat yourself to at least one night at the hotel restaurant - I had the dinner menu, and for the price (about £16 for 3 courses) the food was outstanding. The wine list was extensive, and the service efficient (although for some reason the same staff serving breakfast were less good).
The hotel is in a typically lovely and quiet New Town terrace, 5 minutes walk from the western end of Princes Street, but with none of the chaos of central Edinburgh and the roadworks for the new tram system. Near-by are some beautiful streets and museums.

All in all I was very impressed by the Bonham, and would not hesitate to go back.
A little bit of advice - the best prices are for midweek breaks, and prices quoted on the phone were almost 50 higher than the website.

What a beautiful hotel, hidden away in a sidestreet just slightly off the main drag in Edinburgh. When we booked through Last Minute.com we kind of thought that with it being cheap that we might not be getting the type of room advertised on the hotel web site.....WRONG.What a wonderfull hotel, polite, very efficient staff.Tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable rooms.Smashing food.Great location.Great experience.
Handy tip,we arrived at about 10.30am after travelling up from Leeds but knowing that check-in was 3.00 pm we asked if we could park up and leave the cases in reception. The receptionist said he would see if our room was ready,it was,in we booked and up we went.We had a brew and then we were off and running.Great help.

Great service; great location; great staff; great food; great experience - what more could you ask for from a hotel for a luxury weekend break. We're becoming a big fan of the Bonham - particularly as you can get such a good value deal for a weekend break. Rooms are spacious and stylish, beds are fantastic, and you can really chill and relax in comfort after either a shopping trip on George Street, or after a night out dining somewhere in Thistle Street followed by a few cocktails at Tiger Lily.
There might be a credit crunch at the moment, but the incentives and deals offered at the moment are certainly keeping this hotel busy at weekends, giving the hotel a nice buzz and atmosphere. Book in advance for a meal at a £30 per person option, and you get anything from the menu. Certainly one of the best, top quality meal options around at the moment for a high standard, quality experience.
There might be a bit of belt tightening going on behind the scenes which shows up in some of the furniture becoming a bit scuffed, the breakfast buffet not so extensive, and the Molton Brown not as generous, but apart from these subtle changes - this hotel remains one of the best top quality boutique hotel experiences on offer in Edinburgh.
